Two women took an Uber to a beach club in France — the driver’s unsettling question had them waiting for the first red light to escape
Women may fear traveling alone because their safety may not be guaranteed. However, feeling threatened while being accompanied by a friend is a whole new experience. Instagram user and tourist Isabella Rosa Procida, who goes by @isabellarosaprocida, and her friend Kairo Calvitto were visiting in France when they took an Uber. However, one question from the driver prompted them to jump out at a red light. On Friday, July 10, 2026, the two women shared their terrifying experience and showed how they coped with the awkward situation through humor.
Procida and Calvitto had booked an Uber and were on their way to a beach club when the driver began persuading them to go to his house with him. He asked them one question — whether they could go to his house so he could shower. The women, who were recording the entire ordeal, refused his offer. However, he wouldn't budge. They also revealed that he began to smoke inside the closed vehicle and turned the music up very loud, which made it difficult for the duo to converse at one point. Eventually, when he insisted on taking them elsewhere, and the women found the windows locked, they knew the situation was concerning. They realized that they needed to escape and unlocked the doors during a red light and got out of the car.
Procida also revealed that the man had driven away from the location that was originally given to him. While the duo laughed it off during the conversation so as to avoid an escalation, their quick thinking saved their lives from a potential threat. She also noted that she had reported the incident to Uber, and the situation was dealt with immediately. According to a report released by HR Grapevine, Uber logged over 400,181 sexual assault cases between 2017 and 2022. Although the company publicly claimed that 99.99% of trips were completed without any issues, the increase in cases says otherwise. Out of 6.3 billion U.S. trips, Uber reported that 0.006% of rides involved unwanted interactions as such.
