Woman apologized to a neighbor for 2 a.m. noise with a note and gifts — she couldn't believe what was outside her door the next day
Nobody enjoys losing sleep because of loud neighbors. While disputes are common in such cases, a few end up resolving in surprisingly peaceful ways. New York City resident Jess would use her treadmill from 10 p.m. through 2 a.m. When the neighbors downstairs politely addressed the noise issue, she sent them an apology letter. However, what she received at her door the next day caught her completely off guard. On June 4, 2026, the woman, who calls herself "a night owl," shared the experience under the handle @jessxlxnx and revealed her initial reaction upon seeing what they had left for her.
Instead of filing a complaint or confronting her, they penned a note requesting that she use the treadmill before 10 p.m., as it was making it challenging for them to sleep or work at night. Jess, who immediately felt guilty, apologized to them by sending a note and a bag of sweets. However, the next day, she surprisingly found a package left at her doorstep. It turned out that the neighbors had left her a passion fruit-scented candle as a token of appreciation. They also thanked her for her kindness in a note attached to it.
Filming the entire experience, Jess explained that although her friends expressed their inability to become friends with their neighbors, she found herself lucky to have moved into a neighborhood with kind people around her. She also noted that she would soon meet them in person.
