Woman gave the pilot the finger after he diverted the plane for her medical emergency—then her rude exit gave him the last word
It really takes everything in a person not to react when someone acts ungrateful and entitled after you have helped them. On a flight from San Francisco to Paris, a woman experienced a medical emergency when the Air France pilot decided to offload her and get her to a hospital, according to a report from Paddle Your Own Kanoo on August 11, 2025. In return, the furious lady flipped him off, leaving him confused. In a clip shared on July 28, 2025, by one of the passengers, Ishan, who goes by @terminalish on TikTok, the captain’s response was captured. He wasn’t angry and didn’t lose his cool. What he did instead left travelers impressed.
The incident took place on June 13, 2025, when, 5 hours into the flight, the woman began experiencing medical issues. The crew asked for a doctor, but there was no one on board. The captain made the call in the best interest of the patient, but she wasn’t too happy about it. Before she could be taken away by the ambulance, she flipped the pilot off. He had initially informed fellow travelers of the incident, but when she was ungrateful about it, he made one more announcement. “You’ll be happy to learn that our passenger, which we saved her life, she was a bit angry to be offloaded,” he said. “She gave us the finger when leaving the aircraft, and she’s still being very angry at the hospital, that’s it.”
Her medical emergency caused an inconvenience to everyone onboard, including the captain. Yet, the decision was made for her sake, and she was upset about it. The pilot stopped at St. John’s in Newfoundland, Canada, where they spent 2 hours getting her off and ensuring she was taken in by the medics. According to data from MedAire, in 2024, there were over 160 in-flight medical emergencies reported each day.
Personnel are trained to deal with such situations using the equipment they have onboard and requesting volunteers like doctors or professionals to intervene. However, when that isn’t possible, the captain and crew can decide to divert the flight and prepare to offboard depending on severity, time, and other factors. In all cases, the safety of the passenger is the top priority. The only solution in this case was to take a quick detour to the nearest airport, and somehow, the woman seemed to have a problem with it more than anyone else. Naturally, the man decided that since he informed others of the situation, they deserved the petty update too.
Sure enough, people took in every bit of it. Some gossip about an entitled traveler was everyone’s cup of tea. Ishan himself put his hand over his mouth, appearing shocked by the sass, but totally satisfied with the details. @jessievancity said, “Normalize pilots giving non-flight-related information.” Many concluded that the captain was French. @claywithjess added, “French petty is a vibe.” @user847886367900 remarked, “Not him spilling the tea to the whole flight.”
