What are the odds of going to the doctor for a stomach ache you blamed on food and walking out with the wildest surprise ever? That's what happened to a TikTok user (@lifewithkayrenee), who thought that she was down with food poisoning after eating bad chicken. She paid a visit to the hospital; however, when the doctors asked her to switch rooms, she learned the shocking truth. Sharing her story with her TikTok followers on February 1, 2026, the woman revealed that she visited the hospital to get relief from stomach pain. The clip posted by the creator gained huge popularity among social media users, who were stunned by her revelation at the end.

@lifewithkayrenee I’m sitting on the little paper-covered bed, knees bouncing, telling the nurse,Yeah, it’s probably bad chicken. I just need something for the pain. #jk #twinmom #twinmom #oops #fyp ♬ original sound - foreverhumblemarc96

The overlay text in the video mentioned that she thought she had an upset stomach and assumed it was "food poisoning" from the chicken she had eaten earlier. She rushed to the hospital, hoping for relief. "I'm sitting on the little paper-covered bed, knees bouncing, telling the nurse, 'Yeah, it's probably bad chicken. I just need something for the pain,'" she wrote in the caption.

However, when she waited for the doctors to give her medicine for food poisoning, they informed her that she would need to switch rooms. It turned out that the woman had a cryptic pregnancy. However, adding to the twist, she also learned that she was pregnant with twins! In the video, she shows scenes from the hospital, ending with nurses carrying two baby car seats.

A 2023 report published in the Journal of Psychosomatic Obstetrics and Gynecology studied people who have undergone an unperceived pregnancy. The researchers revealed that most women in such cryptic pregnancies experience no symptoms. However, the findings outlined that in certain cases, some people fail to recognize subtle signs, which have led to unperceived deliveries. The research also noted that in Germany, late discovery of pregnancies occurred roughly once in every 475 deliveries, and pregnancies that were not tested until the time of birth were seen in about 1 in every 2455 cases.

In the TikTok user's case, she also faced a cryptic pregnancy, although social media users were shocked to learn about twin cryptic pregnancies. @KingZeke8 wrote, "Cryptic pregnancy is one thing. Twins!? Girl, you had to have noticed something." @_lincoln6echo joked, "Imagine calling work like.. 'Uh yeah… so about that food poisoning… I'm gonna need maternity leave.'" @crackrox recounted, "My aunt went to the hospital because of a bad burrito she ate once. The burrito is 23 now."

A woman with a cryptic pregnancy may never notice her body quietly nurturing a new life. In another story, a woman named Melanie Smith thought she was experiencing constipation on Christmas morning. She rushed to the hospital with her husband, where she learned the shocking truth. The doctors told her that she was not only pregnant but very close to giving birth. Later that very same day, she gave birth to a healthy baby boy named Vincent Antonia O'Dell. Interestingly, Smith also had a cryptic pregnancy, despite being told by her previous gynecologist that she could likely never be a mother due to "irregularities with her uterus."
