Woman nervously handed out goodie bags to flight attendants before takeoff — what the crew did later in the flight caught her completely by surprise
The people responsible for making a flight comfortable for everyone also deserve to feel appreciated. Content creator Sally Hyunji Kim decided to do something thoughtful for the cabin crew before boarding a flight. She had prepared small goodie bags for the staff and wanted to hand them out as a surprise. However, as she got ready to approach the attendants, she began feeling nervous about how they might react. In an Instagram post shared on October 24, 2026, under the handle @sallykim7, she documented the experience, showing how a simple idea led to an unexpected exchange with the crew.
While boarding, Kim admitted that she was worried the attendants might find her gesture strange. She wondered how many crew members were on duty and whether she had brought enough bags for everyone. After learning there were approximately 12 to 13 attendants, she realized she could include the pilots too. Despite her nerves, she went ahead and handed over the gifts. The crew's positive response immediately put her at ease, with one attendant reacting, "Appreciate it." Kim was relieved and excited, saying, "Oh my gosh, I'm not a weirdo!" She was happy that the staff had received the gifts so warmly. However, she did not expect the crew to return the gesture during the flight. One attendant later came by with extra goodies, slippers, and business-class items for Kim and her companion.

Other crew members also brought them first-class pajamas, which surprised them even more. The content creator was delighted by the unexpected gifts and showed the soft pajamas in her video, noting that they were different from what she had expected. The crew also served their dinner before the other passengers, giving them another pleasant surprise. She realized that the staff had gone out of their way to make the journey special after receiving her small presents. By the end of the journey, she was grateful for the kindness shown by the attendants and the extra effort they had made to thank her.

Kindness on a flight doesn't have to come only from the crew. Passengers can also make the experience memorable for those looking after them. In another incident, a flight attendant received a thoughtful gift from passengers during a holiday flight. While serving drinks, she was handed a sealed sick bag by someone on board. Thinking it was something that needed to be thrown away, she placed it in the galley and continued with her duties. She had no idea that the bag contained something that would make her day much more meaningful.

When she finally opened it, she discovered $208 collected by passengers as a gift for her. The gesture left her close to tears, especially as she had been worried about managing expenses and buying presents for her parents that holiday season. She admitted, "I'm so glad I was wrong," recalling how she had mistaken the bag for rubbish. Although the amount might not seem large to everyone, she described it as "an incredible blessing."
