Woman tried to escape a creepy man by pretending another woman was her friend — but the response left her even more shaken
Being a girl's girl isn't just a trend, but a movement rooted in women supporting one another, regardless of the relationship they share. While most women expect support from other women during a crisis, sometimes one may find themselves in disappointing situations. Threads user Hart Williams, who goes by @theyogihart, was 26 years old when she was harassed by a man at an event. However, when she sought help from another woman who she didn't know too well and pretended to be her friend, the woman's response left her speechless. On Monday, June 22, 2026, Williams shared her thoughts on the incident and how it changed the way she viewed relying on women for safety.
Williams was creeped out when the man continued to follow her. However, when she found another woman she recognized, she rushed to seek help. She stood next to her and told the man that the other woman was her friend, hoping to drive him away. Upon hearing this, the woman immediately denied it, saying, "No, I don't know you b**ch." Williams, who was taken aback by the rude response, turned toward the man and firmly asked him to leave her alone. She later looked at the acquaintance and said, "You're right, I don't know anyone who would treat a sister like that."
Reflecting on the incident with her Threads followers, Williams expressed her dismay at the lady's unwillingness to help someone in distress. "I could strongly dislike a chick, and I would still choose her safety over any man's comfort or my own ego," she wrote. When Williams approached the woman, she assumed she would be in safer hands. However, her rude remark completely threw her off. The terrible experience left a bad taste in her mouth.
Soon after her post gained traction, many users offered their support to Williams. @hannigan_hedgehog_hq wrote, "If any girl/woman comes up anywhere, I am her mom/auntie/friend. Period." @therealniamhcosgrove commented, "My worst enemy could come up to me like this, and I'd pretend I was with her." @indielovenotes shared, "I don't care if you're my mortal enemy, if a man is harassing you, we are besties."
Fortunately, not every woman responds this way. In another story, Instagram user Live Nevill shared a chilling experience when a man followed her as she was heading home. She noticed the man trailing her, and her immediate instinct was to get inside the nearest store. She revealed that the man began yelling at the people about what he wanted to do to her, and the staff decided to help her. They ensured that the man took the bus and left before another female shopper offered to help her walk home. Although the entire ordeal sent chills down her spine, she expressed her gratitude to the stranger and the staff for looking out for her.
