Woman was polite to a stranger who offered to jump-start her car, but rejected his advances — then the 69-year-old man’s next words froze her
Trigger Warning: This article contains themes of sexual assault that some readers may find distressing.
Helping a stranger in need and then acting entitled toward them has got to be a whole different kind of disappointing and appalling. A TikTok user named Taylor, who goes by @tatr.bug, shared one such upsetting encounter she had on May 8, 2026. When her car wouldn’t start and service providers were of no help, she decided to ask a passerby for assistance. A man driving a truck obliged, but the minute he agreed, he started acting weird. What followed was an increasingly uncomfortable conversation until he eventually asked her a question that left her disgusted.
Taylor was a couple of minutes away from home at a sunset point when her car stopped working. That’s when she asked a man passing by in his truck for help. After an uncomfortable interaction came a confusing question — “What are you going to do for it?” She clearly responded that she would do nothing and could get help elsewhere. However, he insisted on assisting her. She noticed he was acting strangely, but she needed her vehicle fixed, so she tried to hurry. Eventually, her car started, and before she could leave, the stranger told her it was his birthday and again asked whether she wanted to go out with him. She declined, only for him to mention he had turned "69" before requesting a sexual favor.
The woman immediately refused and said, “No.” However, the man wouldn’t budge. He went on to ask whether her rejection was because she had a boyfriend. Speechless at his remarks, she quickly gathered her stuff and left. Taylor tried other methods before she decided to interact with the stranger. Her insurance company refused to send roadside assistance to that area and told her she would have to pay extra. That’s when the creep showed up. He seemed ready to jump-start her car, but everything from that point became disturbing. He kept making jokes that made the situation even more uneasy until he asked inappropriate questions that revealed what his intentions were.
It is never okay to ask someone for such favors just because one has helped. According to the National Sexual Violence Resource Center, 13% of women and 6% of men have experienced sexual coercion, or pressure to be intimate with another person. An estimated 19.2 million women and 10.6 million men have been worn down by requests for intimacy. 27.2% of women and 11.7% of men said they had been subjected to unwanted sexual contact. Such interactions can affect a person's mental health and leave lasting emotional effects. Taylor had simply hoped to get her car jump-started, but instead had to endure a disturbing encounter.
Commenters offered solutions so Taylor would never have to go through something like that again. @alittlebitanita wrote, “Highly recommend getting a jump box; it’s been a lifesaver for me.” @my2citygirlsusa added, “I wish bears drove cars.” @plottwisted365 remarked, “I don’t think road safety assistance people realize that we need them not just for our car problems but also for safety.”
