Woman yelled at a Starbucks barista over dairy in her regular tea order despite her allergy — their lead handled it like a queen with one word
One of the biggest problems with modern customer service is how quickly frustration turns into blame before anyone fully understands what actually happened. Employees are not only expected to stay calm while being yelled at, but also to understand orders without proper clarification. And when health issues or allergies are involved, those misunderstandings can suddenly become far more serious than anyone expected. A woman named Sascha, who also goes by @versaschi, shared something similar on November 16, 2025. When she used to work at Starbucks, she got a call from an angry customer after she had to use an EpiPen due to a bad reaction after drinking her latte. Being the shift lead at the time, Sascha handled the situation with perfection.

According to the employee, the confusion reportedly began when the woman’s husband walked into Starbucks and asked for a “chai tea latte with apple juice.” It was a custom drink that many newer baristas had never heard of, and so the worker followed up with questions to clarify the same. Based on the information received, they prepared exactly that beverage. Later, the woman called the outlet, furious after suffering a severe allergic reaction to dairy, arguing that nobody had specifically said milk should be added. Sascha apologized for the confusion but repeated one word from her order — "latte," which automatically includes milk. She clarified that since no one mentioned the allergy or to skip dairy, they prepared it as usual.
As the shift lead, the woman explained that her staff actually tried to confirm the details because they were confused by the unusual item, but the husband reportedly kept insisting he wanted a “chai tea latte with apple juice.” Even so, she still apologized to the woman because hearing someone say they nearly died and had to use an EpiPen was genuinely terrifying. At the same time, she gently reminded viewers that severe allergies should always be clearly communicated while ordering.
The comment section agreed with the employee, suggesting that the customer should have been even more careful, since she was getting her drink from a place like Starbucks, where dairy is a primary ingredient. @brionylarkin commented, "Why would anyone deathly allergic to milk order absolutely anything from Starbucks, the milk capital of the world?" @arc275555 said, "The majority of people with allergies are the worst at letting anyone know they have an allergy." @raesash wrote, "It shouldn’t be that hard to change how you get it, too. 'Chai tea latte, but with apple juice and no milk/dairy.'" Many even pointed out that workers cannot read minds, especially during rushed shifts filled with complicated custom drinks and changing menu trends. In the end, the instance highlighted how one missing clarification during a simple food order can quickly spiral into a serious medical emergency.
