Young customer asked a waitress to help her get a cute restaurant worker’s number — what the coworker told her proved to the ultimate twist
We all hesitate to express our feelings toward someone we find attractive. All it takes is an initiative to lead to something magical. TikTok user Avery Mandeville, who goes by @little.hag, was working her shift as a waitress at a restaurant when a young female customer asked her to help trace a coworker she found cute. However, what the woman learned later led to a twist in the story that left her in awe. On May 29, 2026, she revealed her immediate reaction after discovering the truth.
Mandeville was asked by a young female customer if she could help her find a restaurant worker she found very cute. Although she was only able to describe his physical features, she was eager to meet him. The waitress started bringing out every employee who worked there to her table. Eventually, she realized the diner was talking about a foodrunner. When she told him about the situation, she learned the shocking truth. Turns out, the man had apparently found the same woman attractive when she arrived and told a server how much he liked her. When they encouraged him to go ask her out, he chickened out in the moment. She later introduced the duo to each other, and they began talking.
According to a report published by the Institute for Family Studies, while most adults aged 35 and younger meet online, around 6% meet at bars and restaurants. Data from Man Talks showed that 45% of men between the ages of 18 and 25 have never asked a woman out. On the other hand, 75% of women in the same age group prefer waiting for the former to take the lead. It shows the gap and the many chances that are lost. Fortunately, Mandeville was able to bridge this gap by bringing the two together, and it's a story that makes one smile from ear to ear.
Sharing the cute moment with her TikTok followers, the waitress said, "How often does that happen? You know what I mean? Like two people having a little crush and thinking that way about each other, and then it works out. I don't know, it was just so cute." She added that she was having a bad day at work, but this incident made her believe in the power of love. "Love is real!" she expressed. Online users who found the story equally adorable expressed their thoughts on it. @Barbarella wrote, "You are so lovely and cute delivering this story to us. How little we all need to be makes us joyful!" @brendaontheclockapp commented, "I met my husband working at a restaurant! In 2009." @Jess wrote, "That is so beautiful."
