Stories of Santa, the Tooth Fairy and more have an important role in keeping magic alive for a kid. But the kid would eventually find out that they are not real, making it a very bittersweet moment for the parents. A mom, Yvette Olazar, went through that this year when her 12-year-old daughter stopped believing in Santa. Initially, she was worried that her daughter wouldn't want anything to do with magic anymore. Little did she know that the girl would step into an all-new role for her younger brother, according to the mom's Instagram post, where she goes by @yvetteolazar. The clip received over two million views.

The girl had taken on the role of putting out elves on the shelf for her brother this Christmas, per the video. She was trying to help her mom keep things going for her seven-year-old brother, Christian. "No one talks about the day they stop believing and start helping," the text overlay of the video read. The moment had made the mom really emotional. "My mommy heart is so emotional experiencing this for the first time. The sisters officially stopped believing and are now helping keep the magic alive for their brother. I'll forever have all the memories," the caption to the video pointed out.

The mom told Newsweek that it was a big moment for her and her daughter, Natalie. Yvette was worried that her daughter would stop believing in magic altogether. "I think if she didn’t want anything to do with the magic anymore, it would be harder on me, but seeing her be just so happy to be helping this year has made the transition so much easier." The mom added, "She has really taken the lead this Christmas." Nonetheless, the mom expressed that she would always cherish the old videos she has of her daughter. "When I first placed the elves in her hands, I was instantly taken back to all the times she would wake up so excited to go find them."

She went on, "I'm so glad I have all my videos and photos to look back on—memories I’ll hold with me forever." Many parents in the comments section of the video could relate to the mom's experience. @whatsthewi5password wrote, "My 16 and 13 year olds helped last year for their little sister and two days before Thanksgiving, my oldest asked me, 'I kinda miss the magic of searching for the elves in the morning, can you hide them for us again?'" @jennhutzler commented, "My son finding out was so sad, but then when he realized that it was me making all that magic, he was really sweet and touched."

@mommypekani remarked, "My 16-year-old helps now; she was just talking about it yesterday, how much it meant to her. How hard I worked to make a little magic happen each year. I asked if she was hurt when she figured it out…she said no, that it made her happy to know how far I’d go to make her happy and how she can't wait to bring that magic to her kids someday." @natt_marie119 shared, "My son just found out too. I was sadder than him. Just the idea that part of his younger self is gone now. It goes by so fast!"
