15-year-old playing hide and seek with friends surprisingly ends up in another country
Children are most enthusiastic about playing outdoor games and try everything in their power to have a good time. But sometimes, while doing so, they unintentionally make mistakes that end up teaching them an important lesson about life. A 15-year-old boy was playing hide and seek with his friends when he chose one of the craziest and most risky spaces to hide, as per the New York Post. Fahim from Bangladesh stepped into a random container to hide from his playmates. Unfortunately, the boy fell asleep inside the container and had no idea what was to unfold. Turned out, the boy sat inside a shipping container to hide from his friends without realizing it.
Fahim remained locked inside the container without the knowledge of any authorities who carried out their shipping duties as usual. The container was packed and ready to be shipped from Bangladesh to Malaysia. The boy, shockingly moved with the container and remained in the same place for 6 days. "We assume the child entered the container, fell asleep and found himself here," said the Malaysian Home Affairs Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, according to Malaysian National News Agency Bernama.
When Fahim arrived along with the shipment to a whole new country, the workers were baffled to hear a knock from inside the container, per CBS News. When they opened the same, they found the teen in poor condition from having starved and confined in a container for six days. The boy didn’t speak the local language and had workers confused and worried. Unable to derive much from the scenario at the time, many feared it was a human trafficking case. “He was the only one found in the container. A police report was lodged and as he was having a fever, he was taken for medical examination," the minister explained.
However, this claim was declared null and void after the boy’s story of his game and his playmates came into the picture. "Investigations found no elements of human trafficking," the minister added. Having traveled 1,600 miles in a stiff container for 6 days, the boy was in a concerning condition. Fahim received immediate treatment after being taken in an ambulance. His journey back home in safety was also planned by the officials. A video capturing the boy’s vulnerable condition on being finally found was shared by a user on Reddit but it has since been deleted.
Several people commented how fortunate it was for the boy that he managed to remain alive and that he was found within 6 days. u/TopRevolutionary720 wrote, “Honestly he got lucky. Ship voyages can easily take weeks.” u/skr80 added, “Imagine you finally get let out, and they're speaking a different language, and nobody can understand you.” Another user remarked, “What if it was a long haul trip? It could take weeks, even months.” u/everydayasl added a light-hearted comment, “Fahim is now an undisputed worldwide hide and seek champion.”
