19-year-old girl rushed to stand with a group of older women outside a pub — her chilling reason had them booking her an Uber home
Public places can feel safer when strangers are willing to help each other during uncomfortable moments. That is exactly what happened when a teenager approached two women outside a pub and quietly asked if she could stand with them for a while. Instagram user Candice shared the experience through her account @candilicious.insta on Sunday, July 19, 2026. She explained that she and a friend were walking when the 19-year-old came over looking worried. At first, they did not know why she needed help, but her explanation instantly made them realize the situation was far more serious than it first appeared.
Candice recalled that the young woman had just left the pub with her friends when an older man approached her. The 28-year-old had been trying to convince her to take him home with her after making an unsettling comment. He reportedly told the youngster, "It doesn't count before you are 26." The latter was confused by the remark until the man explained what he meant and continued trying to persuade her. She immediately refused and walked away before approaching Candice and her friend. Instead of ignoring her request, the woman replied, "Absolutely, you can be with us." The 19-year-old stayed with the duo until they arranged an Uber to get her home safely.
Looking back, Candice said she was shocked by the man's behavior and even more surprised by the young woman's reaction afterward. Rather than feeling angry, the teenager apologized for interrupting them while asking for help. She believed she had nothing to feel sorry about because she had made a smart decision by requesting a stranger's intervention. She reassured the youngster that she had handled the situation in the best possible way. Candice later shared that the experience left her struggling to find the right words. She encouraged fellow women to trust their instincts and reach out if they ever feel uncomfortable, rather than worrying about disturbing strangers.
Helping someone who needs support is a responsibility everyone can share. In another incident, a woman entered a nearby shop after realizing a man was following her home. The stranger also came inside and began shouting, leaving her frightened. After he left, the store staff checked outside more than once because the scared female believed he was still waiting, and they later found he had been hiding nearby. After he finally left, another shopper offered to walk her home, explaining that she hoped someone would do the same for her if she were ever in a similar situation. The person later said the stranger's kindness restored her "faith in humanity."
