8-month-pregnant woman with low blood sugar broke down, unable to decide what to eat — bakery staff’s unexpected move left her crying for 20 minutes
A little patience and understanding from a stranger can make all the difference to someone navigating pregnancy. A TikTok user who goes by @deburrito was 8 months pregnant and experiencing low blood sugar, since she was hypoglycemic. However, when she broke down at a bakery, unable to decide on what to order, one staff member's unexpected gesture left her in tears. On May 21, 2026, the woman revealed how the man's compassion made her sob for 20 minutes in the parking lot.
Even before the crying pregnant woman could place her order, a male staff member approached her and told her that he knew exactly what she needed. He grabbed two chocolate muffins from the shelf and packed them for her. As she struggled to take money out of her wallet, he informed her that they were on the house. She admitted that his kindness left her emotionally overwhelmed. She also noted that the chocolate muffins were the best she had ever had. "I hope he is having a good day," she expressed.
According to PubMed Central, hypoglycemia affected 65 women out of 3,715 women who delivered during one study. The report emphasized that the condition affected 10% of pregnant women in North America, compared with 25% in Southeast Asia. Some of the common symptoms experienced by women with the condition include tachycardia, dizziness, nausea, and sweating.
While researchers remain unclear about the relationship between low blood sugar levels and pregnancy, it is noted that the condition may be associated with low birth weight. In this case, the woman became overwhelmed while experiencing a low blood sugar episode. The staff member's genuine thoughtfulness made her day and left a lasting impression on her.
Soon after her post went viral, many internet users shared heartfelt responses to the man's kind gesture. @tallih0gtug wrote, "That was an angel. You met an actual angel!" @Narrlsy commented, "When I was like 16, and on my period, I went into a bakery and asked for the most efficient form of chocolate food they had. I left with three triple chocolate brownies." @paintedchameleon mentioned, "Sometimes we get to be heroes from behind the bakery counter, and that's the best feeling ever." @ivyflowers17, who worked in food service, recounted, "So many times have I had someone come up crying, and a free cookie changes the whole trajectory of their day."
