After 2 years of parking in the same spot, a woman woke up to find the HOA’s overnight signs got her car towed

'The man who was there voided her charge because he didn't like her signature.'

Wrong implementation of rules and unexpected signs might cause people a world of trouble. One might also be pushed to share what they experienced to ensure others don't go through the same. A woman did that when her mom's car got towed from right outside her house. She had parked the car at the same spot outside her house for two and a half years and was a resident of the area. But towing signs were unexpectedly put up, and the car was towed in the blink of an eye. The woman, Britney Jo, who goes by @britneyjo__ on TikTok, shared the entire incident on the platform on November 19.

"I am irate at what we just experienced," Jo began. "My mom lives in a neighborhood in Austin. They put up brand new towing signs." The family had never seen them before, and Jo's mom had lived in the same house for over two and a half years. "She is also a registered resident in the neighborhood and they towed her car from the street where she parks every single day and has for two and a half years." The mom and daughter had to drive across town to get the car back after that. When they tried to call the HOA, they couldn't get in touch and no one was present at the leasing office to address their concerns.

They also left a voicemail for customer service, but didn't hear back from them either. "Get here and the man who was there voided her charge because he didn't like her signature," Jo went on. "He said it looked like a scribble." Jo's mom had already paid $250 as a fine, but the man refused to accept it and asked her to sign a new document instead. "She pays because we couldn't get hold of anyone to actually figure out the situation." The man at the tow yard wasn't willing to accept the signature, even though it looked exactly like the one on her driver's license. "Made her redo it. The whole thing. Literally wasn't going to release the vehicle."

"After some choice words and some deep breaths, they just open the gate, and they go, 'Good luck finding your car.' Like, they're not even gonna freaking tell you where in the lot it is," Jo revealed, really mad at the way the entire situation had been handled. In the caption, Jo shared a PSA. "PSA: for anyone going to The Grove playground in Austin, TX, there are brand new towing signs and they're not messing around." People expressed their concerns with the incident in the comments section of the video.

@markbrinkowski wrote, "Oh, the tow companies in Austin are a literal crime syndicate. They know barely anyone will actually take it to court." @user844521443 commented, "First, leave a Google review for the neighborhood or HOA. That will get a response fast. Second, be glad they didn’t make you bring cash. Hate towing companies." @nonoicant remarked, "This is impound lot 101. This is how they all operate. And only one person can enter the lot to get the car. My senior citizen dad had to hobble around on a cane in the gravel lot to find his car. I couldn’t go with him."
