Alleged abductors drove off with woman — but one hidden danger outside the car sent the driver to the ER and unraveled their plan
Life-saving rescues usually happen because authorities or a good Samaritan intervene. One case, however, took an unexpected turn and made a life-saving difference. According to 2228 News, a woman was rescued after two people allegedly attempted to abduct her. The report dated September 29, 2026, revealed that one unexpected element forced the accused to drive to the ER, where the victim contacted someone for help and was rescued.
The report stated that an illegal deal between the accused and the victim went wrong on September 13, 2026, in Renovo Borough. The accused, 30-year-old Evan Paul Pletcher and 23-year-old Chelsey Kay Probst, allegedly kidnapped the woman. They demanded money in exchange for her and drove off. They report claimed they first took away her phone and allegedly physically assaulted her. They reportedly drove to Beech Creek Mountain. While Pletcher, the alleged driver, stepped out of the vehicle, a snake bit him, forcing the duo to take immediate medical action. They drove to the medical center, where the victim contacted her family. Both the accused have been arraigned and placed in the Clinton County Prison on $50,000 bail. Their hearings are scheduled for Monday, October 5, 2026.
While usually observant strangers or brave and astute passersby are credited as heroes, in this case, the snake became the reason the victim was able to find help. As rare as it seems, it is not the only case where an animal or an unexpected hero saved the day. In another instance, a 12-year-old girl was saved, thanks to a carnivore. She was kidnapped while she was on her way from school and was missing for a week before authorities found traces of her location. The abductors had kept her in a remote location and were reportedly on the move after learning that cops were on their way. As they tried to move her, the youngster screamed and cried for help, alerting a pride of lions nearby. Call it a miracle or just instinct, but the animals realized the girl was in trouble and rushed to her aid.
They chased the kidnappers far away before returning to the 12-year-old. The most surprising bit was that they didn’t harm the child at all. Instead, they stayed with her until help arrived. One of the officers involved in the case noted, “They stood guard until we found her and then they just left her like a gift and went back into the forest.” When officers found her, they only found injuries from the physical assault by the kidnappers. Experts offered several theories, which included the girl’s whimpering giving the impression that one of their own cubs was in trouble, as well as the idea that the lions likely planned to devour her at a later stage. Yet, the unusual rescue that took place back in 2005 remains a mind-blowing story for decades.
