Biker couldn't understand stray dog's signal so he followed him to dumpsite—they ended up saving an abandoned baby

Dogs are known to have an affinity toward babies and also instinctively want to protect them. A stray dog in Sibonga helped rescue an abandoned infant by alerting a stranger, Junrell Fuentes Revilla, per Cebu Daily News. The man was on his motorcycle near a dumpsite in Barangay Magcagong, on Christmas Eve morning, when the dog was frantically barking at him. When the canine wouldn’t budge despite repeated attempts to understand what the issue was, he decided to give in to his tantrum. It led him to an abandoned baby that is alive thanks to the combined efforts of the stranger, the canine, the Sibonga Police Department and others.

Revilla was riding his bike around the area when the black stray dog came near him and began barking. The 36-year-old tried to figure out what the problem was but in vain. He even stopped his bike but it didn’t seem to calm the dog down. Giving in to his unexpected behavior, the man followed the canine and was led to a vacant plot. In the grass, he spotted an abandoned baby wrapped in a towel. According to an update by The Freeman on Facebook, the newborn still had the umbilical cord and placenta attached to him and was crying when Revilla encountered him. He immediately took the infant to the hospital for treatment.

The baby was then handed over to the Sibonga social workers. The identity of the baby was not yet discovered nor was any further information revealed. In a post shared by @pawssionproject, the canine was identified as Blacky, one of the stray dogs frequently seen around the dumpsite. A picture of the canine around the area and that of the baby safe and sound with the authorities was also shared. In an update by Cebu Daily, it was revealed that Blacky did have an owner, a local painter, Kuya Lyndon Olingay. The man rescued 10 dogs, including Blacky and has been doing a phenomenal job of looking after them in the area.

“No matter how hard life is, even though I’m poor, I feed all of my dogs and take care of them well,” he said, per I Heart Dogs. The work that Blacky did, right from noticing the abandoned baby, looking for help and getting someone to rescue the infant, is commendable. The canine put a thoughtful foot forward to change the fate of the newborn. Without him, it is possible that the baby would not have been found and would have remained helplessly abandoned in the isolated area. The Pawssion Project was delighted to reward Blacky and his owner with gifts together with the non-government organization, Hope for Strays, Cebu. Thanks to the heroic canine, the entire family received wholesome gifts.
