Boyfriend left her for another woman days after asking her to move in — little did he know she had proof of a secret that could cost him his job
Being betrayed by someone you planned your future with can leave you heartbroken, especially when they give you every reason to believe things are finally working out. A 25-year-old woman who goes by u/Olivia_Sofia on Reddit shared that her boyfriend of 2.5 years convinced her to move in together, and then decided to leave her for another woman days later. Hurt by how he treated her after the breakup, she decided to take matters into her own hands, and her next move ensured that he paid for what he did.
Olivia said the breakup had actually happened once before, in July, when her boyfriend told her he had doubts about their relationship. But the next day, he changed his mind, saying ending things had been the biggest mistake of his life and insisted he wanted to be with her forever. Just days after convincing Olivia to move in with him, her boyfriend returned from a weeklong volunteer trip and announced he'd fallen for another woman he'd met there. He later said that he'd wanted to leave Olivia for a long time but had stayed until he found a "backup," even telling her the new woman had a better body. Heartbroken and furious, Olivia decided to get even in a way he probably didn't expect. She emailed his employer, revealed that he'd gone on the trip without telling them while he was on sick leave, and attached screenshots of his Instagram posts.

Olivia mentioned how things got worse when he returned to collect his belongings with the new woman in town. Olivia asked him to come back alone, and they argued. Feeling betrayed after spending money preparing their home, Olivia decided to contact his employer. Olivia said she believed that "if he was well enough to travel and pursue another woman, he was well enough to work." She later admitted using a fake email was unnecessary but said she also told him the truth when confronted. His employer contacted him the next day, but his contract was already not being renewed, so they let the matter go.

In the comments, many readers were divided with different opinions. u/Otherwise-Wall-6950 wrote, "He's a loser, and you deserve better," adding, "I'd probably have done the same thing." u/hangry_forever wrote, "I think you were kinda stupid to still allow him to move in with you after what he did." Meanwhile, u/entrepenurious commented, "Occasionally I am reminded how glad I am to be old."

Olivia's story isn't the only example of someone pulling off the perfect revenge after being betrayed by a partner. In another story, a woman discovered that her college boyfriend had cheated on her with one of her close friends. Rather than confronting him, she teamed up with another friend to sign him up for hundreds of magazine subscriptions using his name and address. It left him with bills for orders he hadn't placed. Nine months later, her ex sent her a six-word email that revealed he'd figured out what she'd done. He'd written "Stop sending s**t to my house," and the woman was satisfied to know that her plan worked out perfectly as she wanted.
