Bride confused when groom thanked her for bringing a ‘special person’ into his life who wasn’t her — the name he said left her sobbing

When one groom, Tim Durand, began reading his vows to his bride, Jessica, on their wedding day in 2016, she grew concerned. He mentioned a "special person" she had brought into his life, whom he was beyond grateful for. But as soon as he revealed who, her eyes were immediately flooded with tears. Jessica Durand and her husband exchanged vows in 2016, and during the ceremony, he mentioned to her the most special person she brought into his life, who now brings more happiness than he ever could have imagined. As the bride curiously awaited who he was referring to, he revealed that it was none other than her daughter and his stepdaughter, Aniyah, whom he considered his own. He noted how he admired her personality and told her mother that he wouldn't want to change one thing about her. He concluded by saying that the day she addressed him as her dad would always remain a memorable moment, as the bride and the officiant could be seen holding back their tears. The groom also revealed that he couldn't be happier to be her father for the rest of their lives.
Sharing the heartfelt video online after 10 years of their marriage, Durand wrote, "I'll continue to repost this video into eternity with every single audio that gives me goosebumps, because these vows live rent-free in my head. But also, it keeps @mrtimdurand on his toes knowing the whole world heard his vows and will hold him accountable." A study published in Wiley noted the importance of stepparent-stepchild relationships. The study noted that stepparents play a significant role in the life of a child, just like biological or adoptive parents. "Once we stop seeing children as the property of their parents and start seeing them as beings with equal and independent moral status, we will be less troubled by the prospect of multiple moral parents," the study noted.
