Couple held up boarding while begging passengers to help them sit together — their remark after finally getting seats behind one woman left her fuming
People who get angry after someone denies a favor clearly don’t understand the meaning of the word “favor” or have an outrageous sense of entitlement. A Threads user named Tiffany shared a post under her handle @taiteon on August 10, 2025, about one such couple she encountered while traveling. On her first-class flight from Baltimore to Charlotte, she was seated next to a man whose wife wanted her to switch seats so she could be near her partner. When Tiffany refused, the woman became agitated. The woman kept begging passengers to swap while holding up the boarding line, and when they finally got seats together, she made an unbelievable remark.
The couple first requested the flight attendant to help them switch seats, but she declined. Instead, she suggested they ask passengers if they were willing. That’s when the woman approached Tiffany, and she said that she preferred the seat she had. After asking another older traveler who also refused, the wife became frustrated. Yet, she was adamant about sitting with her spouse. So she held up the boarding line for a few minutes, begging someone to swap seats with her. Finally, when two people agreed, the duo sat together right behind Tiffany. That’s when the wife said, “There's clearly only a few decent people left in the world.”
The comment left Tiffany enraged because not only was the woman acting entitled, but she had also been rude in the way she made her request. Furthermore, the flight was only 50 minutes long, and Tiffany couldn’t understand why the couple wasn’t okay with being apart for such a short time. To make matters worse, the husband had a window seat, and the wife didn’t want one. She had specifically booked her spot because she gets anxious while flying. Yet, the wife showed no consideration or humanity while making her request and proceeded to mock her after she refused. “Pay for an upgrade or sit in your assigned seat. No one has to volunteer to accommodate you. Especially when they are inconvenienced,” she wrote.
There is a way of asking someone for a favor, and when they refuse, the decision should be respected, not mocked. In another instance, a student named Ishika Yadavalli had gifted herself a business-class seat as a graduation present. A passenger who had been upgraded from economy to business class asked her if she could switch with her daughter so she could experience business class too. Yadavalli politely declined the offer, only to be met with arrogance from the mom. She noted how, as a younger person, she was expected to be understanding and accommodate others.
Furthermore, the mother told Yadavalli that the ticket was likely not even purchased with her own money. This remark immediately offended the student, as she had spent her hard-earned $7,000 on it. The mom continued to pester her, calling her husband and complaining that Yadavalli refused to help her out. However, the young woman stood her ground, and ultimately, a flight attendant had to intervene.
