Raising a family is tough even with one child. The more children, the more responsibilities to carry out. However, being a parent, having siblings, etc. are all rewarding experiences on their own. There’s something about this experience that Christopher and Christina Sanders knew that they went out of their way to adopt six children, reported PEOPLE. As birth parents to five kids already, the couple made the bold decision to welcome six siblings into their family and they have had quite the journey over the years. Known as The Sanders family on Facebook, their adventures and mesmerizing bond are truly wholesome.

The Sanders had been fostering six siblings—Coby, Christian, Caleb, Caylee, Carson and Chloe for quite a few years. They were also biological parents to Christopher, Cameron, Caden, Chad and Caitlyn. As they bonded with the foster kids, they realized they could take this up as a permanent duty. They were glad to give them a “permanent home.” “They just wanted a sense of normalcy in their lives and to feel like a part of a family. They wanted to stop all the moving around and the caseworkers and false hope,” Christopher said. As a Black couple who have adopted white children, the duo is not at all uncomfortable in calling them their own. “We love our children and race isn’t an issue for us, God says we are all the same,” the dad explained.

The Sanders always dreamt of fostering kids to the best of their abilities. “When we heard about these siblings, we made a plan from the beginning to keep them together,” the dad mentioned. After their eldest son Christopher turned 19 and went to college, they sealed the deal with the adoption of six siblings. The mom recalled how the siblings felt right at home when they joined the Sanders family.

Christina even mentioned how everyone in the family had the initials “CMS” and the adoptive kids thoughtfully made a request to change their names to hold the same initials. “It is unheard of, but yes, my babies did it. They wanted a new start and [the caseworker] said they could do it,” she added. Throughout the years, the parents have had their share of ups and downs with parenting. Nevertheless, they are glad to reveal that the huge family is getting along exceptionally well. A GoFundMe has been set up for the family to help with large expenses and $72,071 have been raised so far.

Christina even noted how she ensured she spent time with each of her kids, so that there was never a differentiation. “I make sure to spend time with each of them. Sometimes we go to a nursing home and pass out treats or we’ll go shopping. It’s important to take an interest in each child so they know they are all loved equally,” the mom noted. With years gone by, Christina is glad that she had the thought “to do whatever it took to make sure they could stay together,” from the time they were foster kids. On the family's Facebook page, several glimpses of graduations, Thanksgiving, Christmases, new beginnings and other celebrations for each of the 11 kids thoughtfully capture this big, happy family.
