Daughter uses rocks to teach mom why we shouldn’t hold onto bad memories and it's brilliant

The mother was surprised by her daughter's wise words and how she made all of it up on her own.

Sometimes, children show infinite wisdom in a situation that parents never expect. A girl did something similar for her mom when she explained why they should not hold onto the bad things that happened to them with the help of rocks. The mom named Makenzie–who goes by @makenziieeeeeee on TikTok–had a heartwarming moment with her daughter, Riley, as she shared the idea. She wondered how she was blessed with such a child who made up all of it on her own.

The mom and daughter were sitting close to a stream with a rocky bank when the daughter asked her mom to pick a rock proportionate to the biggest bad thing that happened to her. The mom picked a big rock and said, "I am not gonna say it to you. You have to respect that. I'll speak it to the rock." Riley instructed her mom to put it down. She took a rock for the biggest bad thing that has happened to her and kept it on top of her mom's rock. The daughter asked her to use the uneven rocks and put down one rock for the second worst thing that has happened to her. Makenzie struggled to balance the third rock and the daughter pointed out that they would have to "improvise." She wondered, "How are you this insightful?"

"We have to improvise, so we have to pull other things in just to balance it, right?" Riley suggested as she added another rock to balance the third rock. She added a rock for the second worst thing that happened to her and asked her mom to put one for another bad thing that happened to her. Riley was about to put a third rock for herself as the rock tower collapsed. Makenzie gasped in surprise, but then her daughter explained why it didn't matter. "Why care about all the bad things that have happened? They don't matter," Riley expressed as she threw all the rocks inside the stream. Then she proceeded to use the flat and even rocks to make a rock tower for the "best things" that have happened to them.

Riley asked her mom about the best thing that had happened to her. "You, sister," Makenzie said as she put the rock down. "Best thing that has happened to me, having an amazing mother," Riley shared as she put her rock down. "Learning to trust and believe in myself and showing you that you can do the same thing" was the mom's second-best thing. While "learning that everything happens for a reason" was the daughter's second-best thing. Each shared a third thing, and the tower was much steadier this time. "Good things can usually be improvised, switch your perspective and balance. Now, with bad things, we have to pull something else," the girl went on. "We had to take something that wasn't ours, and we had to put it in to make a tower. But in this, we only used the things we had," Riley remarked about the difference between the two towers.

The mom was proud of her daughter's wise words. Many in the comments also appreciated Riley's perspective. @_k2787_ wrote, "This is so much smarter than people are noticing. She chose the heavy, uneven rocks for the bad because they're impossible/tricky to stack and build from, the same with our thoughts and what we hold on to." @albanianstrawberry commented, "When she started throwing the rocks in the water, saying, 'It doesn't matter,' I started crying." @notyourmomsnovel remarked, "I think your daughter just healed a piece of me. Tell her thank you."

@makenziieeeeeee How, just how did I get so blessed with this child??? She made this all up on her own and just told me to record. Your children ARE watching you. Everything you do. Every single last thing!!! I am so absolutely fulfilled right now. #daughter #motheranddaughter #thankyougod #keepgoing #dontgiveup #trusttheprocess #ily ♬ original sound - Makenzie 🦋
