Daughter who hadn't seen dad in 5 years planned a surprise visit—his priceless response left everyone around him in tears
Children moving away to build their careers and lives might be normal but it still leaves a void in a parent’s heart. As delighted as they are to see their kids thriving, they hope to have them close for longer. A woman who goes by @atlasxenxaile was also away for five years from her dad and wanted to give him a surprise visit. She decided to do it amid loved ones in an unexpected way. The immediate shift of emotions in his reaction captures the heart of every parent’s strength, joy, love and resilience it takes to hold on to the beautiful relationship with a child.
The video setting begins with the dad seated with loved ones. As they caught up with banter and conversations, his eyes fell on a huge box sitting by itself. No one seemed to be interested in the box but the size of it caused the man to wonder what might be in it. “What’s in the box?” he asked, looking around. The people present urged him to open it. Having been in a light-hearted and relaxed mood, the dad was all jokes and laughter. “Don’t lift it, open it,” one of the people cautioned. Listening to this unusual caveat, the man got a little suspicious and looked in wonder. “Is there someone in it? Because I’m jumping out,” he said, while chuckling.
As he opened the seals on the box, he noticed everyone surrounding him with cameras. "Why is everyone recording? This is weird,” he said, looking around. When he opened the first flap of the box, he saw the top of someone’s head. He frightfully took a step back. “Goddammnit, I knew there was somebody in there,” he said. A second later, he opened the other flaps to answer the question — “Who?” He immediately lifted the other flaps and there she was, his little girl, waiting for him. “Oh,” he said, immediately getting teary-eyed. He didn’t wait and quickly lifted the box off her so she could get up.
It all happened in a matter of seconds and by then, the dad was already in tears. “My little girl,” he said, as he gave her the tightest hug. His cracked voice revealed that he was sobbing. He continued to hold her for the next few minutes. “I love you so much,” he said, aggressively, while still in tears. You could tell he found something missing, something his heart had been silently longing for. The family around was so filled with his reaction that they all stood silently, giving the father-daughter duo time to take it all in. People were in awe of this heart-melting reunion.
