Death investigator was examining a presumed deceased—her keen eye helped quickly revive the person

It was definitely not a regular day at work for the death investigator, as she wasn't trained for something like this.

A death investigator and saving life might not get used in the same sentence in a usual scenario. However, a medicolegal death investigator who had gone to examine a presumably deceased person noticed a small sign of life from them and immediately started performing life-saving measures to revive the person. The investigator, Kenzie Sellers, changed the course of events because of her keen eye and quick actions to help the person and was considered a hero for her work, per CBS-affiliate WVLT 8.

Sellers had gone to a Knoxville home to examine that person when she noticed a twitch in their hand and realized that they were not actually dead. "She was met by the other agencies that were there at the scene and then she went to the individual and started performing her external examination. When she started her examination, she noticed that the signs were not consistent with death. She noticed a twitch and she jumped into action," Chris Thomas, the chief administrative officer at the Knox County Regional Forensics Center, explained. Sellers took help from the police and revived the person at the scene. "Kenzie administered several doses of Narcan to the individual and then the pulse and sounds of life came back," Thomas recounted.

"She stayed with them and kept administering first aid until emergency services were able to arrive back on the scene. [The individual] was in stable condition," the officer continued. He expressed that he was proud of all the work Sellers and other team members put in to save the person. "We’re proud of Kenzie and her lifesaving techniques. We don’t train for this, so this is not exactly the training that you receive in our facility. We don’t teach lifesaving measures. We focus on how to pronounce cause and manner of death and how to investigate death," Thomas added. The Knox County Regional Forensic Center also explained the entire scenario through a Facebook post.

"Upon arrival, MDI Kenzie Sellers began her examination when she noticed that the individual was not actually deceased. Inv Sellers quickly switched to life-saving measures with the assistance of KPD and the individual was fully revived and at the time of this post is still alive," the department wrote on 26th July. They also clarified that this was not a normal day for a death investigator and they were extremely proud of Sellers's quick thinking in the situation. "She was truly a hero today!" People congratulated Sellers for saving the person's life in the comments section of the post.

Mary Galbraith wrote, "Way to go, Kenzie! What a blessing you were today to this person and their family. They will never ever forget you. God put you there at the right time. Thank you for all you do every day. Your job isn't easy." Susan Plemons Swindall commented, "Grateful to Kenzie for her quick action that saved a life. God placed you in that situation for a reason. He used you to perform a miracle and the friends and family of this young person are forever grateful to you, but most of all to God be the glory!" Lissa Anne Taylor remarked, "You go, girl! You were exactly where you were meant to be in that moment!"
