Driver nearly passed elderly man struggling to cross the road — one detail made him stop the car and rush to help him

In our everyday lives, we often encounter many situations where a simple effort for another can leave an indelible mark. It doesn’t take much, perhaps just a few minutes of our time; a kind greeting or even a smile can do wonders. A man–who goes by @zus_garage_pendang on TikTok–shared a video of a stranger who decided to offer this simple effort for an elderly man. The senior person was trying to cross the road, and the man who was driving the car made a swift and smooth turn to dodge the elderly. However, a few seconds later, he stopped and turned back to help, sharing a dose of kindness for the man to remember. 

The driver who recorded the scenario was driving behind the other stranger in his car. His dashcam captured the elderly trying to cross the road. He had taken a step or two towards the road. Being old, he was slow and had trouble navigating the busy street. Older pedestrians are often not as active and don’t have the best cognitive and motor skills to make their way, especially through a busy road, per AARP. Moreover, senior citizens are at high risk of injuries or even death due to road accidents and have to exercise added caution. With a bag and a few other belongings in his hand, the senior man was finding it difficult to take each step. 

Once the driver drove past him in a seemingly dangerous manner, the elderly person decided to turn back for his own safety. The second driver, making his way just behind the first car, spotted it all and stopped so the elderly man could walk back safely. He waited patiently, but as he thought of stepping out to help, he noticed the first driver park a little further. There was one more detail that the driver noticed that pushed him to rush to help the man. The elderly person was blind and had been using a cane and had glasses on.

One can only imagine how much harder it was for him to navigate the road and walk. The first driver quickly ran behind where the elderly man was and offered to help. Assisting him with his shoulder and even helping with his belongings, the stranger helped him get back to safety. Seeing his actions, the second driver also drove a little further, parked his vehicle and rushed to help, per The Sun.

The duo helped the man together and even had a little conversation with him. It was revealed that he wanted to go to a nearby area. Reportedly, the duo helped the elderly man to safety near one of their vehicles. The rest of the scenario is not known, but the simple initiation ensured safety and kindness to the elderly man and won people's hearts. @sha.layla93 said, “Thank you, good people. May your life path always be made easier.” @tee3231 added, “It’s so worrying to see people walking on the road like that. Thankfully, good people passed by at that time.”
