Four boys learned an elderly woman was about to end up in jail for an unkempt lawn— their response left her speechless

It is amazing how simple things that are in our power can be a life-altering help to another. It does not have to take or cost much. Sometimes, all you need is a little time and a dash of kindness and things will work out spectacularly. 75-year-old Gerry Suttle was relieved to rely on the kindness of the Reynolds brothers, who came to her aid to keep her out of jail, per CBS News. Suttle was charged for not managing her lawn and was about to end up in jail. The boys came to her rescue in a priceless way, and their act is an inspiration that is worth applause.

Lawns need to be maintained regularly by city laws and regulations, per Love Lawns. This includes keeping the grass height short and manageable. If grass gets taller and is unkempt, it can pose a safety hazard and the owner can be fined or charged based on the law. Apart from this, the threat of rodents, insects and other untoward happenings also follows. In Texas, in particular, residents are required to keep the grass on their lawns under 9 inches. It is illegal for it to be any higher. Suttle was called to appear in court via notice for having an unkempt lawn with grass over 18 inches tall.

She somehow missed the notice, and when she did not show in court, an arrest warrant was issued. When the four brothers heard the story on the news, they were determined to do something for the elderly stranger. "We haven't met her yet, but she's 75 years old and she needs some help mowing," said Blaine Reynolds, one of the boys. “It made me feel bad because it's a 75-year-old woman,” Blake Reynolds, another one of the boys, mentioned, per World Around. With this positive and generous mindset, they were determined to take on the task and help Suttle mow her lawn. They spent their time in the sun, working hard to mow the lawn.
“It was hard pushing the mower through his tall grass,” Brandon, one of the brothers, said. However, they were not alone. Soon, people from the community joined to offer assistance. Suttle was speechless on seeing her transformed yard, thanks to the kindness of young strangers. She headed to court and signed the documents indicating that she hadn’t received the first notice and wanted to get rid of the warrant. Unfortunately, the court summoned her again despite the boys’ hard work. "It is very heartbreaking to see that someone that I didn't even know came out and spent two hours in the sun doing what we thought the city wanted done, and then they turn around and say 'no,'" Suttle said.

However, the boys were not discouraged. They became all the more determined to help the elderly woman. "I'd do it for her a second time or a third time. Anything to keep that lady from having to go to court,” Blaine remarked. @NannnyAnne4510 said, “Well done, you fine young men.” @tomelmore8431 added, “Four young boys showing the world, the nation, their state and community how it's done."
