He learned disabled woman was facing a $240 fine for unkempt lawn—so he saved her garden and raised $879K for her

There is so much people can learn about the lives of others by just being kind and thoughtful while interacting. Even at work, while doing one’s job, a genuine greeting or offer to help can be a blessing to another. A landscaper named Spencer Bosley (@sbmowing) had a similar encounter and didn’t hesitate to render a compassionate response, per My Modern Met. The man, who works as a landscaper, came across an elderly lady, Beth, who was feeling troubled because of her unkempt lawn and the constant threat of a fine from the government. The woman, whose request for services was ignored for days, found more than just a helping hand in Bosley. 

The elderly woman shared that she had been on the lookout for someone to help with mowing her lawn. Unfortunately, she got no help. She received a call about a $240 fine if she failed to trim her garden soon. When she shared her problem with Bosley, the man took a good look around the garden and offered to help as much as possible. “Oh my gosh, I can’t believe it,” she exclaimed in disbelief. Right from fixing the cracks and mowing the backyard to clearing up the driveway, the landscaper was ready to give the woman's home a makeover for free.

“I’m going to get this looking like you’ve never seen before,” the man assured Beth. She remarked that her “prayers had been answered,” and couldn’t wait to see what the man had in store. Without further ado, he got to work and cleaned up the woman’s yard brilliantly. Bosley showed Beth her freshly-trimmed garden and the woman was surprised to see the results. “I know I cried when I heard your machine,” she said, looking around in disbelief. Beth was beyond grateful for the man’s hard work and kindness. “Your work makes me twinkle,” she remarked. However, Bosley had more to offer.

Bosley's clip made several people come forward and offer to help Beth financially. @britt.pitcher said, “Can we donate so you can go back and keep it looking nice for her?” @princessconsuela0 added, “As a community, get together and help this woman.” In a follow-up video, the man struck up a conversation with Beth where he learned that she needed quite a bit of help around the house and couldn’t afford any. Bosley agreed to the people’s offer and set up a GoFundMe for Beth. He then suggested Beth get everything she needed to live without any inconvenience, such as a ramp instead of steps and several other repairs.

“It’s unreal, those are the things dreams are made of,” she said. In a couple of days, donations were raised, up to $550,000. In yet another video, the man revealed that people came together to help Beth generously. The woman’s eyes lit up with the biggest gasp as Bosley held her hand and broke the news to her. With the overwhelming support of the community, Bosley raised around $879,185 for Beth to help her with all the repairs she required.
