Family of 11 sleeping peacefully heard a loud knock at 1 AM—an 'angel' at the door ended up saving their lives
It takes courage and presence of mind to act in the face of danger, and one stranger proved just that. When a woman noticed something deadly from her next-door neighbor's house, she sprang into action to evacuate the family from the house. Needless to say, she is now an "angel" to the residents, as reported by WLWT News.
Josh Ellis and his family were in their house watching the show "Stranger Things" when they heard someone loudly banging at the door. Haily "Moss" Strong, who lived next door, noticed smoke emitting from the house and quickly began alerting the family. Unbeknownst to Haily, she was about to save the lives of 11 people inside. At about 1:06 a.m. on July 5, 2022, Haily appeared on the doorbell camera, knocking and yelling, "You guys, your garage is on fire." The family was unaware of the fire due to the wind blowing, which made them unable to detect the smell of smoke. Unfortunately, the smoke detectors had not gone off, even though the garage was already completely engulfed with smoke.
Thankfully, the family heard Haily's cry, and every family member, including Josh Ellis and his wife, Brittany Downing, along with their nine kids, were able to get out on time. Brittany, who was at a loss for words, said as she choked in tears, "All of the other outcomes that could have happened if she hadn’t stopped and knocked on the door. I don’t know if me and him would be here today for them kids." Haily's quick thinking and kindness have led her to save an entire family in a matter of minutes. Needless to say, she is hailed as an "angel" by Josh and his family. Following the harrowing incident, Haily reunited with the family. An emotional Josh Ellis said, "That's an angel. She saved our family, no exaggeration about that. She stayed, and she saved our family. I mean, the house was ablaze."
Haily, on the other hand, was thankful for getting the family out to safety. "It was really beautiful. I was surprised at how much emotion I felt. Obviously, I was happy to be able to help them out and to get them out okay, but it was great to see them in person." In another similar story, a selfless stranger's heroic act in Paris saved the lives of two women and four children who were trapped in an apartment caught on fire. When thick smoke began spreading, 32-year-old passerby Fousseynou Cissé quickly climbed from a nearby building onto a narrow ledge several stories high, risking his own life. Thankfully, he was able to evacuate all the people and save them from a potential tragedy.
