Flight attendant confronted a passenger for poking her from behind — what he said instead of apologizing made the encounter even stranger
Working a flight means dealing with all kinds of passengers, but some interactions can cross a line in a few seconds. Dannie, a flight attendant who shares travel content as @wanderlust_withme, was serving drinks when a passenger behind her suddenly poked her to get her attention. She shared the encounter on Instagram on September 18, 2026, but when she confronted him about it, his response took the exchange in a direction she clearly hadn't expected.
Dannie was in the middle of working the drink cart when she suddenly felt someone poke her from behind. She turned around, clearly caught off guard, and asked the passenger if he had really just touched her. Instead of apologizing, he denied it and laughed, joking about getting security involved. Dannie tried to brush it off with a joke of her own, saying, "I didn’t want that either because we would have to lean and drop him off." But then he stepped into her space and said, "Now if you were a man, we would be having a different type of conversation." Dannie simply did not want to get involved in a conversation with an entitled passenger and replied with, "Yeah. Okay." She turned back around and continued serving drinks, leaving the bizarre exchange behind her.
For Dannie, the encounter was another reminder that working in the air can mean dealing with some seriously unexpected behavior. She pointed out that flight attendants have to deal with "the wildest entitlement mid-air." While the interaction clearly frustrated her, Dannie didn't let it interfere with the rest of her work. In her caption, she explained that the poking itself wasn't what bothered her most; it was the man's reaction after she called him out, particularly the way he became aggressive. She also turned to fellow flight attendants, asking how they would have handled the situation.
Some passengers are challenging to deal with, and they can quickly make a fairly regular flight unbearable for flight attendants. Similar to Dannie's experience, another flight attendant heard an unexpected comment from a passenger when she covered her legs with her jacket before takeoff. A nearby passenger assumed she was making a statement about him and snapped, "Nobody is looking up your skirt." She calmly shut down the awkward exchange with a witty response, saying, "Good! And I love that for me. Now put your seatbelt on because we’re preparing for takeoff." In both stories, the encounter may have lasted only a few seconds, but they were enough to leave both flight attendants with an uncomfortable experience they would likely remember for a long time.
