Flight attendant kept checking on a mom overwhelmed while flying alone with 3 young kids — what the mother said before deplaning stayed with her
Traveling alone with three young children can be a lot to handle, especially when one of them is crying and you can feel the eyes of other passengers on you. Flight attendant Jasmin Sanded noticed a mother boarding the flight with three young children, a stroller, and several bags, and she could immediately see the mom struggling. She took the youngest child from her and walked them to their seat, staying with them until the mom had the kids settled. But once the plane was waiting on the runway for takeoff, she noticed the youngest had started crying and screaming. Sanded could see the mom getting overwhelmed and repeatedly apologizing to the passengers around her. She couldn't leave her seat at the time, but as soon as the crew was released after takeoff, she went over to check on her. The mom was crying and clearly stressed, so Sanded continued to see how she was doing throughout the flight. After landing, she also helped her with her bags. Before leaving, the mother thanked her and said something that moved Sanded. She said, "This may just be a job to you, but that one little encounter made such a difference."
Sanded said the moment stayed with her because, to her, helping the mother didn't feel like anything extraordinary. She said, "It’s my job; that’s who I am," and also added that she is "such a massive empath." The encounter was a wonderful reminder to her that even a small act of kindness can make a huge difference in someone’s day.
Sanded emphasized that she wasn't sharing the story for praise. Instead, the experience reminded her why she chose the job and why she loves being part of the cabin crew.
