Friend asked for her phone password to charge it while she was tipsy — the next night, her Apple Watch exposed an outrageous betrayal
Becoming friends with someone of the opposite gender may seem harmless until their true intentions are revealed. A Threads user who goes by @_colormejadee had gone out with her male friend, and after she felt tipsy, they went back to their car. When he asked her for her password to charge her phone, she gave it to him without thinking much of it. However, what she discovered the next day on her Apple Watch left her feeling disgusted. Sharing the story on Threads on Saturday, May 16, 2026, the woman revealed how the incident left a negative impression on forming male friendships.
Back in high school, the woman was introduced to a guy through one of her close friends. After her friend's passing, she continued to remain close with the man, as she suspected no ill intentions. One night, when they went out together, she had a couple of beers, which made her feel tipsy. When they got into the car, he asked if he could get her password to charge the phone. She woke up and realized that he had parked the car in the middle of nowhere for almost two hours, even though her home was just 30 minutes away. She asked him to drop her off. But what she found on her Apple Watch the next night left her speechless. "This f***ing creep had gone through my phone and sent himself my photos," she revealed.
"Selfies. Gym progress pictures. My maternity photos. Pictures of my family at the pool and me. Random photos that had absolutely nothing to do with anything," she added. He also made sure to delete the sent messages from her phone, but forgot she had access to them on her watch. When she confronted him, he said, "No excuse, but I am sorry."
She then demanded to see the rest of his gallery through screen sharing, and to her surprise, she found hundreds of photos of her taken by him without her knowledge. "So many photos of me, it genuinely felt like I was looking at a stalker's phone," she wrote. While she immediately blocked him on everything, the incident stopped her from making male friends in the future.
Many internet users who were shocked to read her story shared similar accounts of forming accidental friendships with the wrong people. @star_seed_48 recounted, "I remember a guy I was talking to in the beginning, I went through his phone, and he had pics of me and pics of my family, saying he went on their social media page and got them." @mocha_queen428 commented, "Could never find me pining for more male friends or peers, for what? I just don't see the appeal." @cherylmooney729 noted, "Your 'friend' sounds like a narcissist. A dangerous one at that."
