Girl started sinking in a sand hole on Thanksgiving — her dad's split-second move ensured she stayed alive till rescuers arrived
During some events, tragedies are avoided because of the quick response from all the stakeholders. A 12-year-old girl was stuck in a sand hole she was digging because of a cave-in of the area around it. The chances looked bleak, but her dad the fire department, responded quickly and saved the girl's life. As the incident and rescue happened on Thanksgiving Day, the parents had a lot to be thankful for, per Fox News. Everyone involved was glad that it didn't turn into a tragedy.
"Firefighters, medics and Montgomery County Sheriff's Office deputies were directed to a sandbar on the West Bank of Panther Creek just south of the pedestrian bridge, where a 12-year-old girl on a family outing was trapped after a large hole she was digging in the sand collapsed, covering her completely," the fire department in Woodlands explained, per the outlet. She was completely buried under all the sand and emergency services had to be called to save her life. The girl was on a day out with her family on Thanksgiving at that time. Her father worked to remove some sand so she could at least breathe until help arrived.
"Her father rushed to her and was able to clear the sand from around her head, allowing her to breathe. When crews arrived, they found the patient with just her face and head showing." Multiple agencies and first responders came to the scene to check on the girl and ensure that she was out of the sand hole safe and sound. First responders got to work with shovels to get the girl out of the place. "Crews worked quickly to shore up the area and then carefully cleared away the sand to extricate the patient," the department went on. Emergency workers from the fire department and hospital district were able to get the girl out safely.
They checked on the pre-teen, who was doing pretty well after being taken out. "After medics evaluated her, she was released to her parents, who declined transport to the hospital." The department was grateful that they could avert the tragedy and make the family's day with the remarkable rescue. "First responders from four agencies worked together seamlessly to turn a near tragedy into a Thanksgiving story that will be told for decades!" Her dad's actions also played a major role in keeping her alive, per KHOU 11. Many people expressed their thoughts on the incident in the comments section of the video.

Luckily, I got knocked back and was able to dig him out." @HarleyDyna0320 commented, "This has happened at beaches on the coast, especially around sand dunes and several feet back from the waterline, where people are digging in the sand at leisurely play. The ground is always shifting and falling down and inward from the constant surf. I had never heard about these types of shifting sand events until just a couple of years ago. I pray that this knowledge would be posted at beaches and elsewhere about water, sand and beach safety." @roslynmccoy9115 remarked, "I am glad that her father was able to save her."
