In a dynamic society, having different sexual preferences is still not widely accepted. For people who are not attracted to heterosexuals, it can be tough coming out to their families. At such times, they require support and love before anything else. A man named Travis (@tr4v4cq) shared his journey of coming out as gay and it has people in awe. He came out to his grandfather and in return, received the most supportive and heartwarming message. Sharing the same, he has inspired others to render the same kindness and understanding as his beloved grandpa. “Finally came out to my grandpa,” he wrote, along with a mention that his response was wholesome.

The old man, trying his best to understand what this news meant, ensured his words assured his grandson of his acceptance and love. “Well Travis, I guess you're saying you're ‘coming out,’” the grandad mentioned. He added that he had suspicions about the same for quite a few years. “It's not something easily hidden but it certainly wasn't for us to come forth and ask you,” he explained. Irrespective of the past, the man warmly noted, “Your mom is right. We don't care, we love you, want you to be happy wish you success and will support you with whatever you choose to do with your life.” Apart from accepting and supporting his grandson, the man also had a bit of advice to add. “I just don't want you to sell yourself short,” he said.

As much as one would think this was all there was to say, the old man elevated his message with his wisdom and love. “I'm truly sorry you were afraid to approach us on this subject, especially if it caused you anxiety and stress. I told you several times in the past that you can talk freely with me about anything that concerns you,” he recalled. He concluded by acknowledging that it was a hard decision and even more hard to put it out in public. “Being heterosexual is much easier as you don't face possible criticism and prejudice. Enrique seems like a very nice guy and he’ll be welcome here anytime,” the grandpa wrote.

Travis was grateful for the message he received. In a comment, he revealed that things didn’t go exceptionally well when he came out to his dad. So, having his grandpa’s support and love meant everything to him. Several people applauded his courage to come out to his family and even praised the grandpa for his love and open-mindedness. @cameronuk2001 wrote, “I love you’ve had this response. You must be as proud of your grandpa as he clearly is of you.” @lilangelmegs added, “I know I don’t know you but I'm so happy for you! Your grandpa seems like an amazing person, always hold him close to you. Congrats on coming out!” @TlGERBI00D said, “You should feel blessed that he’s so chill about this.” @jjt42 shared, “This the most wholesome coming out text ever.” @HuggetOut remarked, “This is the grandpa I want to be 50 years from now.” @Chance_chris71 wrote, “Glad your grandpa is an ally.”
