Couple expected a very normal first dance until a legendary singer took over — their jaws dropped
Some surprises turn into stories that people might tell for a long time. A wedding party experienced such a surprise during the bride and groom's first dance. Coldplay frontman and lead singer, Chris Martin, showed up as the couple began dancing. He played the piano while wearing a white beanie and normal clothes. The guests didn't even recognize him for a few moments, according to the BBC. They noticed him at one point, but didn't want to pester the couple during their special moment.
It all came into play because the groom's mom wanted to do something special for the couple. The woman had initially asked for a video message from Martin that could be played at the wedding of Abbie and James Hotchkiss. However, the singer decided to take things a notch higher. Instead of sending in a video, he decided to make an appearance himself to surprise the couple and the wedding party. Only the Stafford couple and James's parents knew about the singer's possible appearance during the first dance. Martin came in and played the Piano and sang the band's popular song "All My Love." All the guests were really surprised to see the singer at the wedding.
"Guests took a while to notice it was actually him, but didn't want to ruin our wedding day, so asked us loads of questions once he'd gone," Abbie told the outlet. Alexander Brown, one of the owners of the venue, told the outlet that the singer's team had come in hours before the wedding began. They checked the piano and ensured everything was perfect for the singer's appearance. Martin himself had come in by Helicopter to perform during the couple's first dance. "I'm very happy for the couple. It made their special day extra special. I couldn't quite believe it," Brown went on. The couple looked into each other's eyes as they danced to the song.
At the end of the dance, Martin came forward to greet and congratulate the couple. He shook their hands and hugged them before walking out of the venue. The guests looked on with disbelief, but didn't do anything that might distract anyone from the dance or cause any inconvenience to the couple or the singer. Many people who had gathered around to watch the dance could be seen recording the moment. The wedding happened at the Blithfield Lakeside Barns in Rugeley, England, according to PEOPLE.
Many celebrities decide to do special things for their fans. In another story, a high school student asked Dwayne Johnson to be her prom date. Even though the actor couldn't escort the teen, Katie Kelzenberg, to prom, he sent in a message and a big surprise for her, per KARE 11 News. "Let's start the Friday morning announcements with a little bit of fun and a little bit of excitement," the actor began through the intercom system. "Good morning to the Stillwater Area High School students. This, as you might have guessed, is Dwayne Johnson, also known as 'The Rock.'" He apologized for not being able to take Katie to the prom and applauded how "cool" she was for asking him. He had also arranged an entire theatre where Katie could take all her family and friends to see "Rampage" and eat all the possible snacks as the actor's treat.
