Gym owner was tired of homeless man sleeping in his car — then he offered him a cup of coffee and it changed everything

Many people are living in heartbreaking conditions that force them to make do with whatever they find. 24-year-old Bryan Taylor was initially becoming an inconvenience for God Body gym owner, Roderick Duncan, per CBS News. The young man was found sleeping in Duncan’s old car behind his gym. When he tried to get him out, Taylor would somehow end up in the back of the car every night to find some rest. Wanting to fix the situation for good, Duncan decided to do something about it — but it all began with a cup of coffee.

According to the National Council of State Legislatures, 4.2 million youth, young adults and teenagers experience homelessness. These include youngsters living in the homes of others, in camps, parks, public spaces, hotels, and even cars. Duncan was worried when he noticed Taylor coming back night after night to sleep in his car. Since the vehicle had a lock issue, it seemed to provide a secure space for the 24-year-old. "Homeless guy had to have been," Duncan said. The man tried his best to approach Taylor, but in vain. There had to have been some issue that brought him back there.

After several failed attempts, Duncan tried an alternative idea. "Before I could knock on the window, I said, 'You know what?' I came back in here and made him a cup of coffee," he recalled. The man decided to talk things out and see what the problem was. As he spoke to Taylor, he learned that the young man had a troubled childhood. He also had a drinking problem. After feeling a connection with the youngster, Duncan decided to help him out. He offered to let the 24-year-old sleep on his couch and helped him get an ID and job interviews. Duncan also helped the young man grow and become a mature and responsible person with the many life lessons he imparted.

But all of this was a long run. Amid Duncan’s goodwill for Taylor, there were times when the duo had their ups and downs. Nevertheless, each time, their connection made its way through and Duncan held on to his determination to give the young man another chance at life. "Some people need more than one chance. It takes a while for most kids to stop bumping their heads," he said. Right enough, it made all the difference. Taylor’s life was turned around — both as a person and for the future. "I'm a changed person. I got a job. I got more confidence. I got a smile on my face,” he remarked and there’s one man to thank.
People were moved by Duncan’s gesture, which became a saving grace for the youngster. However, the chord they’ve struck with each other is all kinds of wholesome. @debbiebramwell said, “This was a divine connection. God knew what he needed!” @janetmiller2980 added, “Blessings to this friend for helping the young man to rebuild his life.” @tinahilbert6014 remarked, “Much love to you brother for giving him help, hope and most importantly...love!” @rosaleebrown6830 wrote, “That's really powerful, some people really need more than one chance. You're a heaven-sent for this young man. Keep up the good work!”
