Teen filming her autistic brother in car was stunned when he finally gave the reaction she'd been 'waiting' 7 years for

Even a small moment can actually have a huge significance for people in unexpected times. A family experienced that when a 19-year-old girl was on a drive with her 6-year-old autistic and non-verbal brother. She was driving and filming a video of her quality time with her little brother as the song "APT." by Rose and Bruno Mars played in the background. The woman didn't know that she would get to experience the moment that her family had been waiting for seven years, expressed her mom, Jenni Edwards (@wreathers on TikTok).

"When your nearly 7-year-old autistic, nonverbal son just randomly starts singing whilst out with his big sister," the mom wrote in the text overlay of the video. "Don't usually put stuff like this out here, but to have my non-verbal brother sing a song with me in the car out of nowhere was quite a moment," the sister shared her happiness. The brother and sister were on a drive as the song started playing. All of a sudden, the boy started following along and his sister looked towards him a couple of times to confirm what was happening. The boy was indeed singing along as the song played.
The woman had a big smile on her face and tried to contain her excitement so that she didn't overwhelm her brother. She simply joined him and the duo kept singing until the end of the video. The mom cheered for her son through the caption, "Waited nearly 7 years for this. Absolutely priceless. Go, Ronnie Boy." She clarified in one of the comments, "My son is in a specialist car seat and the phone is on a stand. Please just enjoy this special moment captured between a brother and sister." The sister, Grace, shared, "As for being the big sister in this video, anyone with a loved one with autism or anything similar just understands how special this moment is. Iβve never been prouder, as you can see."
The boy was diagnosed with autism and a severe language disorder when he was only three and had been non-verbal all his life, according to his mom's conversation with Newsweek. "Even though he understands most of what you're saying, he really struggles with his communication." Edwards was also proud of the way her daughter dealt with the entire situation with calm and composure. "I wouldn't have been as... calm as her and Ronnie sees Grace as his safe space," the mom expressed. The family was really excited about the new milestone in their kid's life. "We've learned not to sweat the small stuff and to pick your battles, but definitely to celebrate every milestone that so many families take for granted."

People absolutely loved the wholesome family moment. @.pam_x wrote, "The fact your daughter knew not to make a big deal out of it, as it would overwhelm him, is everything! I just know she wanted to scream with excitement and pride!" @bryony_woolford commented, "You can see how much this means to her and how hard that was for her to hold back the excitement so she didn't overwhelm him, this healed the child in me." @lulubelle.75 remarked, "I work with autistic children and I understand what a big deal this is, I'm so emotional watching this, it's just beautiful."
