Celebrating special days alone is not easy, especially when their loved ones are alive and thriving. However, sometimes, they have no one around and, hence, have to spend such an occasion alone. A mom found herself in a similar situation because of a wide range of reasons. She was eating at a restaurant alone and had no one to celebrate Mother's Day with. But when the waitresses at the restaurant noticed that, they decided to do something to make her day better, per WBMF News.

It was in May 2018 when the mom, Barbara Foy, was feeling sad. She went to the restaurant named Ruby Tuesday to eat by herself. Foy's son had forgotten to call her that day and had not talked to her in quite some time. She did not have anyone else to celebrate the day with either. However, soon enough, the staff noticed that Foy was eating by herself on a special day. So they decided to pitch in and make a special gift basket to uplift her and celebrate the day with her. They brought a big bag filled with special goodies to the table, and her lunch had been paid for as well. Another customer at the place also got a rose for her. "I really felt like I was queen for a day…mother for a day! I've never been made to feel so special," Foy remarked.

"We were not OK with a mother feeling unloved on Mother's Day. Growing up, I was told to treat others the way you wanna be treated. Me personally, if that was anybody's mom, I would have done the same thing," Mariah Brown, a server at the Ruby Tuesday outlet, said, per TODAY. Three servers, including Brown, Christianna Smith and Kabria Hasty, bought items from a nearby store to make the basket that included a backscratcher, too, one of Foy's favorite items. Foy's partner died a while ago. Her only son, Blaine Foy, lived away from her, and so did her two grandchildren. She was in a coma for three months back in 2014 and had to deal with the aftereffects of the incident. So, the gesture meant a lot to her.

"I had all this on me, and these girls didn't know anything about me, just that I was sitting by myself. For their kindness, what they did for me to take so much off of me, to lift me up. I just can't believe what they did. People don't do that," Foy expressed. Foy later planned to take the three women out for lunch to pay them back for all they did for her, but she couldn't really reciprocate how special they made her feel on that day. Not only that, Ruby Tuesday also prepared to reward the women for their kindness by giving them $1000 each for what they did to make Foy feel special.

"This is a life-changing experience for me. Those girls are so special, the managers, all of them, couldn't have shown me so much kindness. They told me I was part of their family," Foy recounted. She called her son that night and told him about everything that had happened, and he was in complete shock. "He does love me. I bet he won't forget Mother's Day again or forget to call his poor little mama," she pointed out.
