Hollywood star Danny Trejo becomes a real-life hero for little boy trapped in overturned car
Hollywood's veteran actor Danny Trejo is known for playing some of the most ruthless antagonists in the movies. However, the 80-year-old actor proved himself a real-life hero after rescuing a baby who was trapped in an overturned car, per ABC7 Eyewitness News. The special-needs child was stuck in a car that overturned following a traffic accident in the neighborhood of Sylmar, Los Angeles. Trejo was fortunately in the area when he and another bystander witnessed the collision of two cars between Hubbard Street and Jackman Avenue back in 2019.
The "Machete Kills" actor crawled over the car wreck from one side and struggled to unbuckle the child from the car seat at first. That was when a young woman who joined Trejo in the rescue mission crawled inside the car from the other side of the upturned vehicle and was able to get the child free from the buckle. Trejo then took the baby out of the car seat and pulled him to safety. There was another person stuck in the car while the baby boy was getting extracted from the wreck. ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ
The boy's grandmother who was driving the car, remained trapped in her seat until the firefighters arrived to use their equipment and free her. Trejo told the news outlet in an interview that he was trying to distract the baby boy from the chaotic scene while the firefighters were putting in their efforts to bring out the grandma from her car. Trejo also revealed that he had worked with special-needs children so he knew how to keep the young one calm. "He was panicked. I said okay, we have to use our superpowers. So he screamed 'superpowers' and we started yelling 'superpowers," Trejo recalled. "I said to do this, with the muscles. He said 'muscles.'" ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ

"We got kind of a bond. I kept facing him away from the accident," the actor continued. The Los Angeles Fire Department revealed to the news outlet that a total of three people were injured at the scene and they were transported to a hospital but there were no life-threatening injuries. Even though the authorities carried on with their investigation, Trejo said that the other driver who clashed with the grandmother's car possibly defied the traffic signal and smashed into the vehicle with the elderly woman and her grandchild in it. ㅤ ㅤ
"Pay attention," Trejo advised others driving vehicles and parents too. "And the only thing that saved that little kid was his car seat, honest to God." "Everything good that has happened to me has happened as a direct result of helping someone else. Everything." According to The Santa Barbara Independent, the actor had a rough childhood and while growing up, he was in and out of prison until he got his big break in Hollywood. Trejo also used his fame to speak out on drug addiction and recovery and he often visited juvenile halls or recovery centers to share his story.
