A person's call for help might get answered when they are least expecting it. Something similar happened with a homeless man suffering from diabetes, tumors and multiple other things when a family noticed him from their house. They had planned to offer him a meal, but ended up giving him so much more after listening to his story. The woman, Hilary Holmes, started a GoFundMe for the man, Daniel, to help him move towards stability. The effort yielded some great results.

Holmes shared that she had seen a 60-year-old man sleeping "rough" outside of her house on Easter Sunday. He had diabetes, hernias and tumors, but couldn't get medical help at a hospital because of the lack of a fixed address. "He is on the wait lists for numerous charities for crisis accommodation, but with this sector in crisis, due to the demand, he hasn't found any," Holmes pointed out. Still, Daniel didn't come to her for help, the family had noticed him first as he discreetly tried to hide his belongings in garbage bags in the bushes near their house as he went to the shelter for food and water. "He has been robbed a few times recently & lost everything." She added, "He has cold showers at a place nearby."

On the night of Easter, Holmes invited the man for a hot shower and dinner when he shared his whole story. "Like many homeless, he has endured huge trauma, abandonment and hasn't been looked after." She went on, "He admits he could have done some things better, but he says he would rather look forward than back." The woman wanted to get him healthcare and accommodation as the nights gold colder, so she started a GoFundMe. She encouraged people to donate anything they could to help Daniel. "Let's support Daniel and show him that we see him, value him and care!" Eventually, Holmes managed to raise more than 32,000 AUD ($20,508) to help the man. She stopped the fundraiser after that and thanked people for helping her raise far more than what she had hoped for.

"So far, your donations have paid for him to get clothes, shoes, glasses, temporary accommodation, paying off some of his debt, food, medical support, teeth and much more," Holmes expressed. Daniel had to get some medical tests before deciding what he would do with the remaining amount of money. "Rest assured, it will be funnelled into the right channels and will be done in a way that is best for him. He has asked for much help for this money to be handled correctly and funnelled into the right areas," Holmes went on. "Thank you again for all of your kindness and generosity. I have shared this with him and read out your words."

"He said he asked God yesterday for help, he just asked to be met halfway— and I walked over with the bag 5 minutes later," Holmes told Sunny Skyz what Daniel had told her about all the help he received from her. He continued, "Do you actually know you have changed my life? No, Hilary, you and your friends really have." The man hoped to find a van or wagon that would become his home and help him move towards stability.
