A prom is one of the most important occasions for most teenagers, and that is why they try to put their best foot forward. However, for homeschooled kids, it is nearly impossible to attend a prom. So when friends of a homeschooled girl, Victoria Hoffman–who goes by @ves.crochet.hut on TikTok–invited her to their senior prom, she was super excited to join them. She said yes to her friends but later realized that she had not thought of what she would wear and did not have a special dress for the event. Nonetheless, Hoffman showed the dress she had to people on the internet and asked them if it was a good dress for prom.

Hoffman was wearing a white and blue floral skirt with a white milkmaid top and explained, "Someone, please tell me this is a good prom dress. It's all I have, and it's all I can afford." Through the caption, she revealed, "I'm a senior and this is my first time going to a prom. This will also be my graduation dress." She pointed out that she did not have a "ton of money," and her parents were not in a position where she could ask them to buy her a dress. Also, she added that she was invited by a friend and did not want to "embarrass" them by not looking the part. Many people shared heartwarming remarks on the dress in the comments.

@shannon.jenkins5 wrote, "Wear the dress. Go to the prom. Eat the cake. Enjoy your life. I'm 54, and I can not explain to you how fast time flies. Always be you." @thedarcymichael commented, "It’s perfect. Take all the pictures and dance to all the songs. Don't let other people ruin your good time. You look beautiful." @jazzmercury0 remarked, "My 7-year-old daughter, Poppy, said you look like you are from a Disney movie!" @melaniecooper4 shared, "Also, you are an amazing daughter! To be aware and so considerate of your parents' situation, so mature and sweet of you. Most teens would be so selfish and demand their wants. Not you." @sarahhhlizzz13 expressed, "As a grown woman, who never went to prom, please go, wear that dress and have the time of your life. You look amazing! I hope you have an amazing prom."

@ves.crochet.hut edit: I have been so so incredibly blessed, I have been sent enough to cover my prom and my graduation, and more! I'm using the extra money to help pay for my EMT! with all that being said everything is so so so appreciated, no one has ever needed to send anything but I am so beyond grateful and I can't say thank you enough 😭 I'm a senior and this is my first time going to prom. this will also be my graduation dress. I don't have a ton of money and my parents aren't in a position where I can ask them with good conscience to buy me a dress. I was invited by a friend to go with them and I don't want to embarrass them by not looking the part. edit: I added my Venmo to my bio as many people have asked for it, but please don't feel as tho you need to send anything! I am so overwhelmed by all the love and kind words I have been sent #prom #seniorprom #promdress #promdresstryon #prom2025 ♬ Little Sparrow - Paul Alan Morris

After receiving a great response to her video, Hoffman shared an update on her prom dress. She revealed that people had been really kind to her with their words, and she would also get to have her nails and hair done with all the help. "I am still wearing my original dress! Thank you so much to everyone who has sent me anything or said anything nice," the caption read. She shared her Venmo (@ve_hoffman) in her bio but pointed out that nobody really had to send anything.

In another update in the first video's caption, Hoffman expressed, "I have been so so incredibly blessed. I have been sent enough to cover my prom and my graduation and more! I'm using the extra money to help pay for my EMT!" She once again said that nobody had to send anything, but she was grateful for everything people did for her. In another post, Hoffman shared the accessories and shoes she had picked to pair with her dress and thanked people for all their kindness again. Also, she added that she will be attending the event on April 25.
