People who get to enjoy the company and love of their kind grandparents are truly blessed. Author Emma Noyes, who goes by @emmanoyesmaybe on Instagram, knows this very well. She captured a heartfelt video of her husband Pontus taking a road trip to surprise her sweetest grandmother. The video immediately went viral on the platform and gained over 4 million views since it was posted.

Along with the video, Noyes shared that her husband never had the chance to meet his own grandparents and it is one of the many reasons he loves his grandma-in-law deeply. "My husband never met his own grandparents, but my gramsie adopted him as another grandson the day they met. Now they’re best friends," Noyes wrote in the caption. When Noyes asked her husband what he would prefer to do over the weekend, he suggested that they should drive to meet Noyes' 91-year-old grandmother. The trip required them to drive for 4 hours but the video proved that it was worth it. As soon as Pontus entered the room of the living facility where Noyes' grandma stayed, she gasped in joy and tossed away her knitting materials to hug him.

While chatting with Newsweek, Noyes mentioned that her grandma lived at an independent living facility in Indianapolis and from the first day she met Pontus, they formed a special bond. The spontaneous trip happened after the couple repeatedly planned to visit the elderly lady but their plans kept falling apart. "We'd talked about visiting her a few times this fall but our schedules never quite lined up," Noyes revealed. "Last weekend, they finally did, and when my husband suggested we make the drive, I was all for it. Even at 91 years old, she's the most spirited, hilarious person I know, and we treasure every moment with her."

"She quite literally threw her knitting when we walked in. My husband ran straight to her for a big hug. They really are best friends," Noyes referred to her grandma's immediate reaction when Pontus entered the room. The couple spent quality time with their "gramsie" over the weekend, drinking coffee, enjoying meals and celebrating Christmas movies together. In a separate video, gramsie and Pontus went out to a bookstore and she looked extremely excited in the footage. "I'm an author, so I always make a point of visiting bookstores and meeting booksellers wherever I go," Noyes said. "It's not something Gramsie gets to do often, and she absolutely loved it." In another video, Pontus proposed to Noyes in front of their gramsie and her reaction was worth it.

The viewers of Noyes' video praised her husband for his thoughtful actions and for showing love and care to Noyes' grandma. @carrieabroad commented, "You know it’s real love when grandma throws her knitting to the ground so she can get up and give him and you, a hug." @april_rivas49 mentioned, "I’m sobbing. I just lost my grandma and she was my whole world. Hug your grandparents while you can and make sure they know how much you appreciate them." @alisonjuniorkaraokedj applauded, "That assisted living is beautiful, as someone who has worked in the industry."

@arahdipity221 added, "See, this is the thing I wish the older people that are estranged from their families understood. If you are a loving, kind and welcoming person, your family will want to spend time with you. They will make space in their busy lives to see you because it’s just as enjoyable for them as it is for you. Whenever I hear about elderly people whose families never visit, I always have to wonder, what were they like before they were elderly? What kind of relationship did they have with their kids or grandkids? Because when the love is real and strong you will never be left out or forgotten."
