Immigrant mom thanked a stranger over text for helping her son book an Uber — the name she saved her as was sweeter than the message

Trusting that it was safe, the woman stepped in and helped, only to receive the sweetest response from the stranger.

Adjusting to a new place is not easy and often takes time. However, the kindness of others and even a little help can make a meaningful difference for an immigrant. A Threads user, Mimi Ameliia (@mymimixo), shared a post on April 30, 2026, about her interaction with a mother-son duo who had just moved. A young boy had approached her asking to use her phone to call his mom. When she learned that the mother was struggling to book an Uber for the boy, she offered to book it herself. After ensuring the boy went on his way safely, she was met with a sweet text from the mom. However, what caught her attention was the way her name had been saved in the stranger's phone.

The woman explained that she was at a café when the young boy came to her and asked if he could borrow her phone to call his mum. After understanding the situation, she felt it was safe to go ahead and help him out. Since the mom was at work and struggling to book an Uber for her son, she offered to book it from her phone. She even ensured the boy got into the car and went on his way safely. Later, she received a heartfelt message of gratitude. But what stood out the most was the name the mother had used to save her contact. Since she didn't know her name, she saved it as "Nice Lady." The screenshot of the payment revealed that tiny detail, which instantly brought delight to the stranger.

The woman also assured the mother that she would track the ride and later inform her about the time of arrival. During the conversation, it was also revealed that the mother and son were new immigrants. It instantly took the woman back to the time she and her family had just moved, and she knew she had to help. If not for the stranger, the mother might have struggled to book the ride for her son and likely would have taken longer to figure it out. The poster also shared that she was glad the young boy felt safe enough to approach her and that her help likely brought relief to his mother.

People were delighted to see humanity shine through the woman's act. @bet.t378 wrote, "This is the village. Thank you for being a nice lady." @_tyrac added, "This is so sweet. It takes nothing to be kind, and I’m happy there are people like you in the world." @3_hour_tour remarked, "Humanity at its finest. Well done."
