Influencer was filming content when a stranger called her 'obnoxious' — her response to the woman’s 'real job' jab shut the exchange down
Getting an unexpected comment from a stranger can be enough to ruin your mood, especially when you have no idea what prompted it. Instagram creator Amanda Monsen was walking to her car when another woman suddenly called her "obnoxious" and criticized what she was doing. She shared the encounter on her Instagram @amandamonsen on September 19, 2026, and her response quickly left the stranger with nothing to say.
Amanda shared the interaction on Instagram after she accidentally caught it on camera while recording content. It started when the woman walking toward her suddenly called her "obnoxious." Surprised, Amanda asked what she had said, only for the woman to repeat, "Obnoxious, I said." When Amanda asked what exactly was obnoxious, the woman pointed to her "live" or whatever she was doing. Amanda asked why that was a problem and then told her, "I hope you seek help. You seem so unhappy." But the woman insisted she was “super happy” because she had a "real job." Amanda wasn't about to let that comment slide and replied, "I do too. I make $500,000 a year."'
Another bystander who saw everything immediately encouraged Amanda, telling her, "You go, girl." Amanda thanked him, while the woman who had started the confrontation had little else to say. What began as an unsolicited insult quickly turned into a conversation Amanda clearly hadn't expected. After the interaction ended, Amanda sat in her car, visibly shivering due to the confrontation. She was still baffled by what had happened. She said she hates confrontation and was surprised that she had stood up for herself in the moment. She ended the video by saying that people are so mean and that she couldn't believe she actually said that.

In another story, a Reddit user shared that she was at a bar with friends when a woman repeatedly criticized her outfit and called her "disgusting." After the comments continued, she finally responded, "I’d be disgusted too if I had to look in the mirror and see that every day," leaving the woman speechless before walking away.
