Man admired her physique and asked for advice, then dismissed her tip as 'for women' — her response about his build left him with little to say
Asking for advice means little if someone has already decided what they want to believe. That was exactly what happened with Dr. N’Dea Irvin-Choy, a travel content creator, who was approached by a man after noticing her fit appearance. He asked about her workout routine. She told him she used the StairMaster a few times each week. He dismissed the machine as something meant for women and said he was not going to use it. Instead, she answered in a way that turned his comment back toward him. She shared the details of the incident in an Instagram post under the handle @bmekween on Thursday, September 17, 2026.
In her video, Dr. N’Dea explained that the man asked about her routine because he thought she looked fit and wanted to be like her. When she mentioned the StairMaster, he said it was "for women" and that he was not doing it. She then replied, "You are built like a woman." It seemed that his body shape did not match the image of masculinity he seemed to defend. She told him he could either change his routine and use the workout machine or continue with the shape he had. She also compared his appearance to having a BBL, short for Brazilian Butt Lift, a cosmetic procedure that transfers fat to the buttocks to create a fuller shape. The exchange became personal for him.
The conversation ended with another pointed remark from Dr. N’Dea: "You are shaped like your mom." She used his comment about what women should do at the gym to challenge the standard he had applied to her workout. In her view, the StairMaster was simply part of her routine, while his reaction added unnecessary judgment. Her response also made the man confront the same body-based comment he had directed at her.
Conversations can reveal more than opinions; they can expose the mindset behind them. In another incident, a gym visit turned uncomfortable when a man approached a woman with an athletic build and asked whether she had liposuction. She calmly said she had never undergone a procedure and maintained her physique through cardio, healthy eating, and regular activity. The conversation could have ended there, but the man brought up his wife, who had recently had children and wanted to start exercising.
Instead of supporting his wife, he said she should "just get liposuction." When the woman questioned why he could not help his wife learn exercises or work out with her, he claimed she would not stay "consistent enough" and said surgery would be easier. He then looked at the woman and remarked, "It would be great if her body could look like yours." His attempt to laugh off the comment did not get the reaction he expected, and he eventually left.
