Keanu Reeves had the most sassy response to a fan's impromptu marriage proposal

Keanu Reeves is known among his fans for being a kindhearted and selfless person who is genuinely nice to everyone around him. So it is only natural that he ended up amassing a huge number of female fans over the decades. The 60-year-old actor even received a wholesome marriage proposal from one of his fans while attending the premiere of "John Wick: Chapter 4" in 2023, per Variety. Reeves was at the SXSW Film Festival in Austin, Texas with the film's director Chad Stahelski when the fan seized the moment.

As Stahelski praised the Austin crowd for being "one of the best audiences of all time," Reeves talked about keeping his titular character's watch and wedding ring from the film as mementos. Right after that, a woman named Susan Stein from the audience shouted, "I'll marry you!" Reeves was quick to give the fan a sassy reply and said, "Yeah, be careful what you wish for." The crowd hollered and cheered for him as the actor-director duo continued talking about the film.

Another fan pointed out how Reeves never seemed to age. “Yeah man, I age,” he replied wearily, per the outlet. “I really — I age. It’s happening, man.” Some others shouted out Reeves' 2005 film "Constantine" and how they badly wanted to see him in the iconic role again. The premiere concluded after Reeves revealed that he would be making a cameo in a spin-off film from the "John Wick Series." As for Reeves' personal life, his longtime friend Jennifer Tilly talked about it in a 2020 interview with Page Six.

Tilly mentioned that Reeves is notoriously private about his love life and took a long time to reveal his relationship status to his inner circle of friends as well. "I remember a couple of years ago, about a year and a half ago, Alexandra said, 'Keanu Reeves is my boyfriend' and I'm like, 'Wait. What? What? What?'" She called Reeves and his current girlfriend Alexandra Grant a "sort of perfect couple." "I think everybody wishes that they had something like that. It's not a razzle-dazzle Hollywood romance," Tilly concluded. 

According to PEOPLE, Reeves had romanced a lot of Hollywood A-listers like director Sofia Coppola and got "sort of married" to actress Winona Ryder but his longest relationship was with actress Jennifer Syme. The pair started dating in 1999 and in the following year, Syme gave birth to their daughter Ava, who was stillborn. Tragedy struck Reeves again in 2001 when Syme passed away in a car accident. Reeves and Grant ultimately made their red carpet debut in November 2019.

 "Keanu wants to openly share his life with her. He is extremely happy and grateful to have Alex in his life," a source revealed, per the outlet. Grant also spoke to Vogue after the couple debuted their relationship in public and she admitted having mixed emotions about it. "I think every single person I knew called me in the first week of November and that's fascinating, but the question I've been asking in all of this is: 'What is the opportunity for good,'" Grant said.
