Kindergarten teacher tries to recognize her students by just their voice — and nails it adorably

As time passes, teachers not only learn more about the students but also their unique quirks and attributes. However, a teacher's video in which she guesses each of her 19 students' names just by their voices takes it to the next level. The teacher, Mackenzie Gill (Miss Gill), sat on her chair with her back turned to her students as they lined up behind her and greeted her one by one while she guessed the students' names by their voices. The adorable video of the activity was posted by Medicine Hat Catholic Schools' Instagram page @mhcatholic.

The students stood in a line behind Gill as an excited boy in an orange sweater greeted, "Hi, Miss Gill." The teacher easily guessed that it was Noah. The next student's greeting was a bit quieter, so Gill told the boy to go again before she guessed he was one of the twins in her class. With a little more thought and another go at the greeting, Gill correctly guessed that the boy was Jacob. She celebrated the correct guess and fist-bumped the air. Gill could easily pinpoint that the next student was Eleanor. The girl stood with her hands folded and had a big smile as Gill guessed her name. She recognized the next student immediately as well.
However, the next kid almost whispered his greeting. "Oh gosh, go again," Gill exclaimed. "That's Matthew." Funnily enough, the kid ran away before she confirmed if she had guessed his name right. Nonetheless, Gill moved on to the next kid, Holdyn and identified him too. Some of the kids with quieter voices seemed harder for her, but she could guess all of their names even after that. A little girl, Gabby, giggled a little as Gill guessed her name, while a child called Theo let out a surprised "Oh my gosh" as Gill guessed who she was. A boy danced while saying hi to his teacher, and one could hear the excitement in his voice. Gill identified him and said, "Christian," who continued dancing as he went away.
Gill identified the next girl while the final student said, "Hiya, elf!" Everyone started laughing, including Gill, who knew the person was Teagan. The caption read, "When you can recognize 19 kindergarten students by the sound of their voice. Way to go, Miss Gill!" The video was reshared by u/ajd416 on Reddit, and people marveled at Gill's ability in the comments. u/TheFrontalCortex wrote, "You can see Christian bursting with excitement for her to guess his name from the very beginning! Then he finally gets there, and he's just a ball of pure happiness. I love to see teachers who care about their students. I just wish they were paid what they deserved."

u/ArethereWaffles commented, "My 5th-grade teacher had an acknowledgment thing, where each Friday, everyone acknowledges someone else for something they did that week. She also acknowledged a student each week and had a notebook to make sure she acknowledged everyone by the end of the year." u/Subterennean44 remarked, "My students would love to be the one who 'Stumped' the teacher. They’d never let me live it down."
