Little boy was spotted trying to cross road alone in a diaper — strangers came together and rescued him

Going a little out of the way for someone might solve a big issue. A driver and a young passenger did just that when they noticed a lost child and decided to help him reach home. It all started when the passenger noticed a kid trying to cross the road and held him to keep him safe. In that moment, his usual bus arrived and the driver asked him what was up, as he didn't travel with a kid on a daily basis. Soon enough, the driver got into action to help the kid get back to his parents, per CBS 58 News.

The bus driver, Elex McGlaston, of the Milwaukee County Transit System, stopped at 76th Street and Sheridan Avenue when he noticed something out of the ordinary. "I saw my regular passenger holding a little boy's hand with a Pampers on and I'm like, I know he doesn't have a kid. I knew something was wrong." The passenger explained to McGlaston that he had seen the kid trying to cross the street alone and had grabbed him so he wouldn't get hurt. "My first thing was to call the station dispatch. I had them call the police and say we've got a missing kid."
McGlaston took the child on the bus with him and quite a few passengers came forward to comfort the child. The police checked the apartments close to the location to see if someone had lost a child. The man checked a daycare centre in the area. They finally found the kid's dad after searching the area for 20 minutes. "His dad comes running out of the house and his dad was all hysterical, saying that's his baby." The boy was safe and went back home to his dad, while McGlaston went on to finish his route. Anna Schryver, the marketing manager with MCTS, revealed that such an incident has occurred quite a few times. "This is the 15th time in recent history that we've been able to rescue a child and we've only been keeping track recently."
Schryver admitted that drivers don't report such incidents often, as they just help out and go on with their work. "These bus drivers are the eyes and ears of the community." McGlaston expressed that helping people out is his favorite part of the job. "Just another day at MCTS, that's all it is," the driver, who had been with MCTS for 14 years, pointed out. Many people appreciated what the passenger and the driver did for the little kid in the comments section of the Facebook video.
Lori Stenseng wrote, "What a great young man who found & protected the child until the bus arrived! You saved a life. Thank you to the Bus Driver for protecting them both!" Lakesha Haynes commented, "Thank god for that first young man for keeping him safe and also to the bus driver for taking over. Thankfully, there are still good standup citizens in the world." Jen Ponschock remarked, "Credit to the first guy, too. Thanks to him for seeing him first and not just walking by." Angie Curasi shared, "Thanks to that man who stood there with him and the bus driver."
