Male business-class passengers yelled at airline worker over boarding delay — the only woman among them reacted so differently it stunned her

After hearing all the men in suits go off on the employee, the only woman in the business-class line took a different approach.

Delayed security procedures can leave any passenger worried and impatient. A traveler named Tia Dewitt recalled how every flyer in line with her was yelling as they rushed to finish their passport and other checks to board on time. Sharing the incident under her TikTok handle, @tia_dewitt, on Thursday, September 17, 2026, she pointed out that she was the only woman in business class while the others were all men in suits. They began complaining and shouting at the employee who was only trying her best to coordinate everything. After repeatedly apologizing to them, she passed Dewitt and thought of doing the same with her, assuming she was furious too. Instead, Dewitt responded with words the worker never expected.

There was only one employee checking passports, making the entire process before boarding slow. Soon, flyers began yelling as departure time neared. In the meantime, one employee was going back and forth to coordinate with the crew. The male passengers demanded explanations and forced her to hurry. When she saw that all were frustrated, she began apologizing and did the same when she came to Dewitt. However, Dewitt replied, “I’m not stressed. There are 50 [sic] of us in the queue; the plane isn’t going to leave without 50 passengers.” She assured her that she knew she was doing her best, and told her not to stress.

Those words served as a boost to the employee, who seemed to be on the verge of crying. Dewitt explained that she was traveling for work, and it was obvious that the other passengers, who were all suited up, also had important plans. But some acted entitled, like one male traveler, who had his AirPods in and shouted over the phone, trying to prove he was on an important business call. The worker was only trying her best to find solutions, but in that moment, the people in line only saw that they were not being attended to. Finding a glimpse of humanity while she was drowning in criticism was much needed.

The employee thanked Dewitt. The content creator assured her that it wasn’t her mistake. She later shared a message, asking people to be kinder in situations like these. At the end of it all, the flight was delayed only by a few minutes, and there were no other issues. The slightest delay or inconvenience can test our patience, but it doesn’t give us the right to lash out at employees who are simply trying to do their job.

Passengers may have legitimate frustrations during a flight, but that does not mean flight crew should have to endure verbal abuse. In another instance, a German passenger yelled at a flight attendant because another traveler in front of him was reclining her seat. “This is so disrespectful; I can’t believe she did this. She didn’t ask me, and she’s violating my space,” he told the cabin crew member.

Since the flight attendant and the woman were both Chinese, he made it a racial issue, saying it might be okay in their culture, but to him it was unacceptable. When he continued swearing, another flyer intervened. She held back her anger and simply suggested the man not take things personally. She even offered a solution by swapping seats, which helped diffuse the situation. Then the man ended up reclining his new seat.
