Women have long been dismissed for their concerns about their bodies or health issues. For instance, getting an IUD is a very painful procedure; many describe it as such. A comedian, Yvette (@yevit), went to a gynecologist to get herself an IUD and received disturbing news. She was told that the male OBGYN refused numbing in his clinic during the procedure because it "doesn't hurt," according to him. Sharing the story on February 16, 2026, the woman recalled how agitating it felt to have pain treated as unimportant by a male doctor. She came up with a top-notch response that has women on the internet applauding and chuckling away.

I would like to put an IUD in him actually

Yvette paid a visit to her doctor for a consultation. Before she could begin, her gynecologist revealed that the OBGYN, a male doctor, refused to numb during these procedures. His idea was that the cervix was not causing the pain, and numbing it would make no sense. The woman asked if he would numb her cervix upon request, to which the gynecologist answered that he still wouldn't allow it. However, when the woman learned the OBGYN was a male, she knew there was no point trying to argue there. Instead of fretting, she shared an unhinged comment. "So I might go back to just get inserted there just so I can have him look me in the eyes while I scream 'Bloody murder,'" she quipped.

According to a study done by Truveta, only 1 in 20 women has received pain medication on the day of IUD insertion, despite the insertion being moderately to severely painful. "The overall rate of pain medication increased from 1.2% in 2018 to 5.2% in 2025, reflecting a 203.7% increase," the study noted. It also added, "Although overall usage remained low, the rate of pain medication more than doubled over the study period. Yet, doctors are adamant about doing things their way instead of paying attention to a woman's pain and discomfort. By refusing to provide pain medication to numb her cervix despite the request, the doctor is violating the patient's rights.

Yvette's video received lots of comments from women on the internet who criticized the doctor's rule@dreary60 wrote, "She told you 'he' on purpose. She wants you to know what you're getting into. She's a good lady. She doesn't like him." @Amanda wrote, "I got a cervix 'softener' the day before, Advil the day of, and then my OBGYN LITERALLY put lidocaine via needle into the muscle, she said word for word, 'No pain medicine is cruelty, we do not do that here, and if you ever encounter it? Walk out.'" @babayagasii remarked, "No, go back and request it. Deny the service and report. Complain to the board of gynecology and leave a comment. We can’t be quiet, and that woman told you for a reason."
