Male passenger filmed a mother breastfeeding her baby from the aisle seat in front of his partner — the shaken parent refused to let it slide
A mother should be able to feed her hungry baby without worrying about being watched or recorded by a stranger. However, a 28-year-old mother, who goes by u/Lostintheworl on Reddit, had to experience exactly this while traveling with her 10-month-old son. She shared her story on r/TrueOffMyChest on August 9, 2027, after a flight delay left her without usable breast milk. She tried to breastfeed discreetly on the plane, but then noticed a nearby passenger recording her. What happened next left the mother feeling violated and determined not to let the incident slide.
The mother said their flight was delayed long enough for the bottle of breast milk she had prepared for the trip to expire, while the rest of the milk she had with her was still frozen. With her 10-month-old getting hungry, she decided to breastfeed him on the plane while trying to cover herself as much as possible. But then, out of the corner of her eye, she noticed a woman sitting by the window stand up and look directly at her. The woman then said something to her boyfriend, who immediately took out his phone and began recording the mother breastfeeding her son. Instead of letting it slide, she reported him to the gate agents, giving them his seat number. The staff identified him, and she later contacted Frontier Airlines to seek help after the incident.
The mother said the incident was especially upsetting because she was alone with her child and had simply been trying to make him comfortable after the unexpected delay. She made it clear that she was not ashamed of breastfeeding or her body, but said the man had taken advantage of a vulnerable moment and made her feel uncomfortable while she was caring for her son. She also pushed back against the idea that she should have been embarrassed for breastfeeding in the first place. “I will never feel ashamed of my body and what it does for me and my family,” she wrote. But being recorded without her consent was a completely different matter, and she said she felt violated by what happened.
In an edit to her post, the mother thanked people who had supported her and said she was finally home and able to get some sleep. She also confirmed that she had contacted Frontier Airlines and planned to seek further help over the incident. Looking back, she said she knew she needed to be braver and speak up if situations like this were ever going to change the way breastfeeding is viewed.
The story also drew strong reactions from other Reddit users, many of whom were disturbed by what happened. “That’s appalling why would someone do something like this?” u/m00shie1990 wrote. Another commenter, u/DelicateBruise, said, "That is disturbing! I'm sorry you had such an uncomfortable flight." u/cheestaysfly said, "I would have immediately made a scene. What a creep, he and his girlfriend!"
In moments like these, it is important to slam people instead of letting the situation slide. In another story, a new mom was feeding her baby at a Target café when a stranger began yelling at her and telling her to breastfeed somewhere secluded. The situation left her shaken, but a Target employee intervened, told the man to stop harassing her, and made it clear that she was allowed to breastfeed there. Other shoppers also supported the mother instead of letting the man’s behavior go unchallenged.
