Any professional title is earned through merit and hard work rather than gender or other biases. One TikTok user recently shared how a conversation with a man about her career goals took an unexpected turn. The story was posted under the username @gardenof_eve on May 22, 2026, where she recalled mentioning to him that she was training to become a pilot. During what seemed like a routine discussion about aviation, the person, who was also a pilot himself, criticized the idea of women being in that field. Instead of staying silent, she made an unexpected comment to shut him up.

According to her, the conversation changed when the man told her that “women should not be pilots.” Rather than arguing, she replied with a quick comeback: “There are no curbs in the sky, so why not?” Her lighthearted response immediately challenged the stereotype and poked fun at the notion that women are bad drivers. She later shared the story in a short video, smiling as she remembered the moment. She jokingly remarked, “Who’s the stupid one now?” The brief interaction stayed with her because of how casually the berating statement had been made and how naturally she clapped back. Females continue to face sexism in workplaces and male-dominated industries. A study by the Pew Research Center shows that 42% of working women in the United States reported experiencing gender discrimination at work, while 23% say they have been treated as less competent because of the same.

The only way to deal with such comments is to respond with a sharp reply. This is what another professional did when she was questioned for a landscaping job she applied for, simply because she was a woman. The recruiter dismissed her application by saying, “Unless you are a bodybuilder, I fear that you will not be able to handle the workload,” and added that the task was “very physically demanding,” asking her to apply only if she was “up for it.” Instead of accepting the judgment, she responded firmly and challenged the assumption about her abilities.

“What I do have is years of experience landscaping and also building retaining walls in 40-degree heat, as I did this for many years while I lived in Australia,” she shared. She explained that her skills matched the job requirements and that strength was not the only factor needed for the work. She also directly addressed the attitude behind the email, saying she found it more difficult “working with small-minded individuals such as yourself.” In the end, she decided to withdraw her application completely, refusing to continue with a process that judged her based on gender rather than ability.
